they have done there fair share of covers and played them well but what do you guys think they could do real well and you would like to see them do

I'd like to see them cover "Everything Zen" by Bush, or maybe "Little Things".
Or maybe a song by Bad Religion, Operation Ivy, or NOFX.
That would be cool.

They shouldn't cover songs of punk bands, especially ones that are still around.

If Noodles can handle the solo, I'd like to hear them cover Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train. No, seriously, think about it.

Mr. Noodles

What about the solo from Bark At the Moon?
That would also be pretty tough.

Holy crap, thats the weirdest thing, I thought of the exact same thing after reading the first post.
Yeah, I think it'd be cool, extremely cool if Noodles pulled the solo off well, I think he could though, I know hes no shredder, but something about him tells me, that outside of the Offspring he's actually a really good player.

It needs to be a classic rock song, they're good at those. Sin City and Next to You were both great covers. I'd like to hear Crazy Train, or maybe some Metallica song if Dex could make his vocals fit with the guitar tone, but probably not.

The first person to say Stairway to Heaven get's punched in the e-mouth, because that song is legendary and should never be covered.

Nirvana covered Freebird. I haven't heard the cover, but my friend who did, though it was the weirdest thing he ever heard.

DK - Holiday in Camboida
Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown (although it's already been cover by pennywise, rise against and 59 times the pain)
The Descendents - Blast Off or When I Get Old
The Adolescents - California Son

I really wish they had covered Blitzkrieg Bop instead of i wanna be sedated, for the ramones tribute album. Im not saying that i wanna be sedated is bad, I just think Blitzkrieg Bop fits their style perfectly. But some other band covered it instead.

besides that, I would like to see them cover Iron Man. that would be cool

They have covered Paranoid (Black Sabbath) Territorial Pissings (Nirvana) and Ballroom Blitz (Buzzcocks) live and all of them sounded awesome. Low quality boots, but still awesome.

I always thought that Day Tripper by The Beatles has great potential for a cover. My main reason is because you can do so much with it.

Ballroom Blitz (Buzzcocks)

Correction--Buzzcocks never did "Ballroom Blitz." Offspring were covering the Damned's cover of The Sweet's original "Ballroom Blitz."

Lightyears
04-19-2006, 07:03 AM
Ok. I have a version by the Buzzcocks and it sounds really dated (not low budget, justn old). So I thought there's was the original, maybe it's not them or maybe it's a cover. I dunno.

they should cover a totally-anti(not)-punk-song. like for example la paloma ( even if there are 999999999... covers of this song), or wonderful world by louis
armstrong

Unknow Soldier (The Casualties). I really love this song.

It is if you like The Offspring.

I agree that they should probably stay clear of covering anymore punk songs, however I'd like to hear them try their hand at ska again. Even more so, they should see how they flare up doing either metal songs, for example stuff by Metallica and Iron Maiden, or even more classic oldies songs. Dexter sounded pretty good singing Stand By Me, I think they should make that a studio recording.

a madonna song would be cool, because I don't like her, but I think some of her music could sound cool done by someone with talent.

Also, the offspring SHOULDN'T COVER A PUNK SONG.

I can handle the solo from Crazy Train, lol. It's not that hard. The shredding on Bark at the Moon is quite a bit harder, but I'm getting there. Plus most of the time I improv the solos anyways.

But my point being is this; if I can handle the solos, Noodles should be able to.
