There is where I grew up. Eugene has the highest municipal unemployment in the United States, despite being corporate headquarters to Nike, Broderbund Software, Bi-Mart, and Taco-time. It's practically a communist state since the largest employers are the local government, the hospital and the university.

Reseda, California.

Dammit, why can't I find a picture of one of the schools I went to. It was featured in the intro sequence to some TV series in the mid 90's about some girl that played tennis. If I remember that correctly, I've no idea what it was called or anything...

http://whatscookingamerica.net/Beverage/SweetTea.jpg
I'm a total blasphemer to my region in that I fucking hate sweet tea.

I don't particularly like a lot of things about the South, but if you take out a large percent of the people that inhabit it, North Carolina is a pretty nice state. It's just a good piece of land. It's really got the most diverse landscape of any East coast state, from the beaches to the Piedmont region to the Appalachian Mountains. Plus the Blue Ridge Parkway is fucking beautiful.

I sound like a fucking travel guide.

All About Eve
04-23-2006, 08:12 PM
I of course meant the state, not the people. And besides sweet tea, I generally don't like southern things much either. I don't really even have an accent.

Here's the Rialto, an early showhouse back during the oil boom in the twenties. It looks rather nice on the outside, but it's completely dilapadated on the inside. The last time I went there to see a movie, my date's friend that worked there told us not to worry about asking for a refund, as the sound and lights were broken.
