so as a thank you to everyone who's uploaded so much goodies for me.. I want to share some of my favorite stuff with you.

also, I will try to structure the huge pile of recommendations I've gotten from all of you & give a reaction to every one of them.

my apologies that I've been away for ages; I never thought about the simple consequence that most files would be expired by the time I'd get back. I thoroughly hate myself now, hope that you will forgive me & that you will re-upload some of the things I never responded to. this is mainly to TiredOfYou, Ricky, Michelle, Andy, Josh, AAE, Conspiracy of One & ...MANY others.

I take it I don't have to upload any Depeche Mode? *grins*

Cake - Never There (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=CHGP5712)
from the album Prolonging the Magic. you've certainly heard of it & if you haven't, you're my favorite culture barbarian.

Amélie - Comptine d'un autre été (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2R89ONGJ)
your favorite movie.

Bjork - Human Behaviour (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=UW75G1UA)
a taste of Bjork.

Chicks on Speed - Euro Trash Girl (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8IKB17TG)

Dream Theater - the Dance of Eternity (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=HHZTVZKG)
admire the overload of styles & the absolute craziness. instrumental.

Fiona Apple - Paper Bag (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=RXN06OTV)
unfortunately I could only find the video on my computer. it might take a while to load, but enjoy anyway.

K's Choice - Winter (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=8ZVI18I9)
BUT.. I adore the live acoustic version so much aswel, I will upload that one too.
K's Choice - Winter live acoustic (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UNO81GWY)

to show that this is not the only thing they can do, here's one everyone knows, who's heard of K's Choice. it's still brilliant. also this one is a video, so again, it might take some time to load.
K's Choice - Everything for Free (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=SI207IXT)

some more. I should just upload their cd Cocoon Crash, but I don't have it on the computer.
K's Choice - Believe (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=X8XTDHRJ)

Fiona Apple raped Luscious Jackson? (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=11W6C40S)
& if she didn't, then who did? or is it a simple live version? then why does her voice sound so different? KILL!
Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=O4LBU1RW)
original version.

Nada Surf - Popular (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=N1RHRFVH)
so, so old.

Nikka Costa - Everybody got their Something (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=6VV97OLO)

Prodigy - Breathe (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=TJZGVB8T)
they used to creep me out.

Racoon - Feel Like Flying (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=970ORFIU)
philosophical: about being drunk. definitely very deep stuff.

Racoon adjusted to a more general public without changing too much, which I admire & love about them. older stuff by them is kind of hard to find on the internet, but they've had a major break through in the Netherlands (which they deserved, but buh-bye free concerts) when this partical song was brought out. personally I've heard it too much - way too much - but I can't keep this one from you.
Racoon - Love You More (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=4XRHCUEX)

tomaito, tomahto. I say "Radiohead..", you say "..SUCKS".
here comes a video. or well, two. (I don't even know why I downloaded a video of these.. was I hoping for another Paranoid Android vid, or one like Karma Police? whatever. you get McUgly in a fishbowl & a lot of water.)
Radiohead - No Surprises (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=DKCTZI0O)
Radiohead - Pyramid Song (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=FJD4ETML)

Sade - King of Sorrow (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=8925RVXN)

Siobhan Donaghy - Overrated (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=DTGK158M)
what a crap name to be born with.

next: frustrated lesbo-music.<3
Skunk Anansie - Brazen (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=TA94RQLI)
Skunk Anansie - Hedonism (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=MSRZTWKV)
the singer started something under the name Skin later, but it's hardly worth checking out. (though the song Trashed is alright if you liked these)

Stellastar* - My Coco (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=V2SM9KME)
it's not from their cd Harmonies for the Haunted, but I just thought I should mention that it's great.

then I've got this collection of tru gangsta rapz0rz, but I'm not going to bother you with that. (RAP SUX!) I'm sure you know half of the songs I uploaded, but I really couldn't care less. for anyone who wants them, they're here. maybe I'll upload some more 'cultural' stuff later. if anyone has requests...

about what was in the Isabella.rar upload. RARR.<3
Lucky Boys Confusion is fun stuff. going straight into my playlist. it's not a lot of songs, though. was that intentional? I mean, same with REM & Sonata Artica. I hardly have any REM stuff on my computer, so I'm glad with this addition. the file with Sonata Artica was empty, but that's fine, because I'm very familliar with SA. not sure yet about Better than Ezra. like the vocals. definitely. *thumbs up* John Mellencamp is old news, but good news. a thank you for that.

i was just asking.....

JoY
05-01-2006, 02:34 PM
to the wrong person in the wrong topic in the wrong section in the wrong forum on the wrong site.

if you'd paid attention before interferring; I asked for recommendations in one topic, I give recommendations as a thank you for everything everyone uploaded in this one. & I don't want to focuss the attention on one specific band other than the Offspring, I want to THANK people for their recommendations by giving them something back.

if this needs to be moved, my other topic needs to moved aswell. but that would suck, because both would get a lot less attention in that case & then everyone would miss out on the uploads that were posted.

I've loved the song Popular by Nada Surf for years. I second the recommendation. That whole album (High/Low) is pretty good actually.

Yann Tiersen is awsome!
I just LOVE Amelie, and Amelie OST. And that song you posted is my fave. Is sooo full of emotions!

Give me a list of what songs I uploaded from LBC, REM, and BtE and I'll get a couple more if you want.
REM:
-Around the Sun
-The Lifting
-Electron Blue

LBC:
-Slip
-Evidence
-One to the Right
-Saturday Night
-Bossman
-3 to 10-cd's caddy, pt.1 (wtf?)

Better than Ezra:
-Good
-Tremble
-Wallflower
-One more Murder
-Misunderstood

I'd LOVE to receive more.

Sanni, glad you enjoy Racoon so much. =D their newest album *I* don't even have yet. but I WILL get it. I must get it. without it I'm incomplete. shall I make copies of the old ones (I doubt you can get them over there, unless you can get them over the internet) & send them to you?
<33

Anya, I know! didya know? I can almost completely play it on the piano now. it was the one goal I set for myself musically the last few weeks. it involved listening real carefully & the repeat-button. I still don't have all songs from the movie, but wah, I think I have the best ones anyway. I also found some other Yann stuff, which was yum stuff. (ha-ha)

bd007h - Nada Surf is the awesome, yes. still, I can't say there's *that* much more stuff by him I actually like. certainly not as much I like this one. I applaud the fact that I have had this song in my playlist for about 6-7 years & I'm still not sick of it.

Tizz, with which songs did it go wrong?? :/

Vera
05-02-2006, 03:29 AM
Omg you have no idea how much I'd love that! :D

If you could, that'd be just fantastic, thanks. :)

*heartz*
no problem! I assume you don't have the albums Here we go Stereo & Till Monkeys Fly? I don't have a printer anymore, so I can't make fancy front-things & stuff, but that's not the point anyway. damn, I could've made copies of their signatures & stuff. I left them at my parents'. they gave me those once after a concert, when we chatted a bit. & a drumstick. hehe, yes, totally. but copies of that could've made awesome front-thingies. oh bwah, I'll just improvise.

why am I so fucking excited over this??

Vera
05-02-2006, 03:40 AM
Hahaha, it's okay. I like making mix cd's and stuff, too. Fiddling with things is always fun. :)

&Yeah, I don't have those albums.

JoY
05-02-2006, 05:55 AM
how shitty can one's computer skills be?? seriously?

I just tried to copy those Racoon albums, but grah, for some reason I keep getting warnings, blah blah, default messages. it was just copying Till Monkeys Fly & then everything got fucked. grr. I'll try to copy them on my roommate's computer when she gets back, k?<3

Tizz, with which songs did it go wrong?? :/

Eh, almost all :( I don't know which, I opened them all at the same time, I'll have to see which ones I have, and I'm on the wrong computer now :P

And I didn't try downloading them all, because I have some of them (Racoon! <3) and know I don't like some (Radiohead).

I'd LOVE to receive more.

I have a couple more R.E.M. songs you'd probably like; Drive is probably my favorite song by them. and I'll get a couple more by those other bands, too; tell me which ones you liked more and I'll pick out ones closer to their style if you want.

try those by Radiohead anyway, who knows. & you can't open them at the same time, only one by one. I know, it sucks. I only figured this out yesterday, too. but the plus of this site is, that files don't expire quickly.

AAE, I do dig REM, sometimes. depends on my mood. but yeah, please upload it for me. =)

I did. & then my entire internet failed because of that MySpacefuckshit & got stuck. it took me a good few minutes to close that site. *stern glare* I liked what I heard, but yeah, I only listened to the first two. after that I didn't feel the need to open the rest. could you upload them on a seperate site for me? *puppy eyes*

seems more like no one is downloading MY suggestions, except Tizz, who did an attempt. =(

you have to wait a couple of seconds (like it says in the right upper corner), then some add comes up, click it away & there's the download. download one at a time, or else it won't work.

& Isa loves you for uploading more.<33

Toots Tielemans - Turks Fruit (http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=TFPZ5VNA)
there's not a doubt in my mind that you want this one. it's awesome!

I don't know from when exactly this is, but I just found a file named "suggestions", so uhm, yeah...

Alkaline Trio - Goodbye Forever:
Alkaline Trio normally isn't exactly my thing, but I was pleased with this recommendation. it's better than I expected.

The Golden Dogs:
I'm not exactly sure yet.

Project 86:
pretty fucking rough. for it's genre it's good stuff. I'm not sure yet if I like it, since I'm not in the mood for this kind of music right now, so it's hard to tell. I'm guessing I'd appreciate this band more in the right mood.

Franzal Rhomb:
the vocals sound kind of gay, but it's fun otherwise.

Ima Robot:
this I know & this I like. =)

Dresden Dolls - Half Jack & the Jeep Song:
I'm already in love with the combination of drums, piano, the vocals & how they've all been put together. like this loads. there is something extremely fragile about their music & at the same time it's pretty powerful. that just sounded pretty fucking vague, but yeah..

someone apparently recommended me Dream Theater. yes well, Bella likes! well known fact.

The Weakerthans:
at the beginning I thought this would be the kind of punk rock I'd delete right away, but I came to the conclusion that I like this a LOT.

Saxon Shore:
is this purely instrumental, or are these instrumental versions? either way, I like this stuff. *nods* a lot, actually.

Freak Kitchen:
I like! the combination of styles & also the vocals are great. Guilt Trip is very different from Mussolini Mind. loving both.

Cuff the Duke - Anti-Social:
hmm, at first I thought I'd like this song, but then it was a bit disappointing. it sounds like what they do has been done before about a trillion times, but it's still enjoyable. there's something about this song I don't like a whole lot & then there's something about it I do like.

James Blunt - Out of my Mind:
already had this one, but yeah, can't get over James Blunt. I'm not fully convinced if I like him all that much, but I like this song so, so much.

Le Tigre - Eau d'Bedroom Dancing:
all these last recommendations reek of Tizz. *giggles* & if that's so, I already commented on them before. me & my moods, I bet every time I comment on songs I haven't heard so much, I say something else. Le Tigre = great.

Dropkick Murphys:
for fun moods.<3 always.

Cream - White Room:
already had it, already love it.

the Meligrove Band - Take me to the Sun:
summermusic! yay! <3

Beatcivilian - Hold Up:
not sure about the vocals.. the song's got a mixture of styles, which is a major plus. I'll give it another listen in a while.

Black Eyes - Deformative:
oh right, this one I've heard before. probably already commented on, too. this is completely fun stuff.

Cato Salsa Experience - Burn a Hole in the Night:
yay, me likes. I'm such a dork.

who recommended me Queen? you, Gulsah? a pretty obvious plus. the fun part of this is that I know this inside out, but didn't have it on my computer.

The Chinese Stars - Cheap City Halo:
hello, weird shit. (that's a good thing)

Jeff Buckley - Grace:
well thank you for that, because when I tried to download this one, I only got half of it. so yay, finally I have the entire song.

Live:
I thought I was done with this band, but hearing them again I like them all over again. though not all by them.

I think I just came across some Hanson. hahahahaha.

Q and not U - Collect the Diamonds:
Josh, I think you recommended this band to me last time I made a topic like this, right? I half-liked them back then, I like them much more now. I think I'll move this to my playlist, oh yes.

Quintron - Shoplifter:
afraid, very afraid. (the tune in the beginning) I'm not exactly sure yet what to think of this.

Reuben - Freddy Kreuger:
the band's name is the last name of my brother's girlfriend. just thought I should mention that. not too hot about the song yet. although, wait.. no, I'm not convinced yet.

Rites of Spring - Hidden Wheel:
no, not my thing.

Rx Bandits - Analogue Boy:
there's something about it I like a whole lot, but then something that's been done too many times by too many other bands. give me a few listens before I make up my mind.

Shins - Pink Bullets:
the name of the song already rocks so many socks. yeah, I think I like this.
So Says I:
definitely like this.

Sloan - Everything You've Done Wrong:
suits the weather. =) like the part of the trumpets in this song. me likes.

The Living End - Second Solution:
still don't like the vocals, but the rest is a-okay.

Tronn - Slop It All Together:
someone recommended this to me also the last time (long time ago) when I made a topic like this. the funny thing is, that I'm STILL not sure what to think of it.

everything by Lucky Boys Confusion:
obvious yay. =D

Yeah, The Weakerthans are great. The music video to "The Reason" is probably my favorite ever.

Did you listen to the Dandy Warhols, Bella?

I think I still have a few bands I could upload. Later, though.

<3 Fiona Apple and Björk. I already knew them, though but they are awesome.

Whoa! That guy, Stephan Grapelli I guess, must be genius. I've never heard that kind of thing before.

Stephane Grapelli is pure genius indeed. =D but I downloaded the guitar-thingie, right? Stephane plays violin. I'll upload some of his stuff later. they always mix up artists on the internet, grr.

T_O_Y, glad you liked them, even though you already knew them. *grins* I forgot to mention that I know the Dandy Warhols & that they're fantastic most of the times.

the following is from the band Tata Mirando. I know them via my father; Tata Mirando was his patient (oops, personal info spilled) & also Nello, the first violinist from this band was. they're absolutely awesome. Nello is by coincedence the teacher of my band & just.. ah.. <33!

& just to be sure; imagine paying the violin's part with TWO fingers. seems pretty impossible, right? Nello plays everything with two fingers, since he has health problems. how freaking incredible is that? every time I watch him play, my jaw just drops.

Sandor Lakatos, a legend you undoubtly know:

http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1GK0AQSTXSTGQ1CP6BYYGBIG9Q
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1TD6ENG7THJQ52RZJE23MNMLDH

as for the jazz....
Michel Petrucciani (piano) & Stephane Grapelli (violin). a lot of the times they play together, sometimes not, sometimes with some other artists, but these are the main two you need to keep in mind. imagine Michel behind the piano; he was a dwarf. as in, a dwarf. with a length no higher than up till your knee. he had an adjusted stool & played the hell out of everyone.
Stephane - Swing Guitars:
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3JD7RIEEKH07Q0LGRB0O6XVJC2
Stephane & Michel - I got Rhythm:
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=30GC80EMKUGF50P4XUZMU84WJT
Stephane & Michel - There Will Never Be Another You:
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=15JHV95RNEYTW0X8Z24Y41VR6D
what comes next is ultimate youth sentiment. at least, to me.<3
Stephane - Over The Rainbow:
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2K8TQATZQYNLB02KD1DDU8YTQ7
Michel - Hidden Joy: (to relax to)
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1LCZQ208YUJCJ0LP495Q9SQOQ4
Michel - Besame Mucho: (also to relax to)
http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1ZH9OF0ZWEMQW1TG39T598FGO1

so much for pure, undying music. =)

Ha, a bunch of those songs are things I uploaded ages ago. I would mostly highly recommend the Weakerthans, although they are not punk rock for the most part, more indie/folksy but with that punk rock vibe.

So far the song I think I like the most is The Cardigans one. A lot of the female artists sound like stuff I'd hear on "Easy Rock 100.5," the adult contemporary or whatever music station. I haven't listened to everything enough yet though.

even Luscious Jackson, Chicks on Speed, Stellastar* & Cake? *blinks* I suck in the whole scene-thing, but I'd say those aren't ordinary rock songs.

oh, who am I kidding? *sigh* none of those songs are really 'ordinary' to me.

Stellastar no. Cake no. Luscious Jackson made me think that upon first listen...

I've been listening to a lot more female artists recently, but I still need to be in the right mood.

I'll try some of the songs from the reason batch in a bit.
