Whole college career comes down to two 17 page papers just hand-delivered to the English department. Dropped off all 6927864378569345 books at the library on the way.

All I have to do is get straight D's for the semester and THAT DIPLOMA IS MINE, BABY!

Humongous congratulations, babe. That's fucking awesome.

I just handed in a thirteen pager on Saturday. Right now, I've got four pages of a twelve page paper done...that's due in four hours. I have ten pages for another class due Wednesday, and another ten for another due Friday.

Just thought I'd remind you of the good ol' days now that you're done!

English refers to Writing & Literature.

^ THough I did, in fact, do a lot with linguistics--just not a whole lot. But some.

1565, doesn't that make you feel.. slightly sad? that you could summerise all those years in two papers of 34 pages in total? I mean, despite all the accomplishments & the awesomeness that's included & wrapped in those papers. I remember feeling a little awkward & sad to turn in years of work, worded in simple papers. there never could be enough pages. & then the door you close of a certain period of time.. I dunno, I'm much too female, sentimental & Dr. Phill fan for this jazz. on one hand I remember how incredibly awesome it felt, the accomplishment, the closure & everything. but yeah..

Yeah, it feels totally weird. But I've saved everything I've written so those 34 pages join hundreds of others. It's a nice glow of accomplishment, but it's also wicked sad.

thank god I'm not alone in suffering from "woman".
<3
yeah, so.. weird feeling, eh? so mixed. how will you celebrate this fact (besides the way you've already celebrated it) & what will you do next?

So, did you manage to do it?

Yes and no. I did complete the assignment, but as I read over it before handing it in, I felt like it had so much potential that wasn't realized. If I just had one extra day, it could have been an awesome paper...but I think I turned in some subpar work.

Meh, life goes on!

If I just had one extra day
The number of times I have thought that, I swear....

JoY

I can fully relate to that feeling. especially since I always start working on.. EVERYTHING way, way, waaay too late. I always manage to finish 'schoolwork' somehow, but in 2% of the cases I'm actually happy about what I'm turning in, etcetera.

Yup...sometimes, it's more important just to have it DONE than done well.

like with grades in university in the Netherlands. you can get a terrible grade, a bad grade, a not good enough grade, an okay grade, a good grade, or an excellent grade. the only way you'll be rewarded for excellent grades are the words "cum laude" on your degree, but as long as your grade is good enough, you'll all get the same degree. you get an amount of points for every course you finish with a good enough result & there's no difference if it's excellent or just alright.

still I can find it extremely frustrating if I worked hard on something & it turns out to be just fine. not good, just fine. but then I'll just have to realise that's good enough & all it takes to cash full points for my study on that particular subject. STILL it can frustrate me. grr.

I know...nothing is worse than being "fine." Like, I have a problem with getting a B+ grade (I'm not sure what the equivalent would be in Europe). I'd want either an A-, which a B+ almost is anyway, or just a flat-out B. B+ is like "almost good *but not quite!*." Aggravates me to no end.

exactly! once I wrote some English thing for my boyfriend (together WITH my boyfriend, I don't actually do his homework, but I help him out with spelling, because he's a dyslexic) & then I made a freaking typo & they gave him an excellent grade MINUS 0.25 for the fucking spelling mistake. I mean, that's nothing out of ten, but it makes the difference between a 9 & an 8.75. grah!
