Recently one of my friends has been bullied at her school because she's bisexual and become really depressed. She's been assigned a counselor who gave her some really awful advice. Apparently, she said to her that if she is openly different to everyone else then it's her own fault that she's bullied and that she's wasting the counselor's and everybody's time. I don't understand how anybody can be that mean spirited and uncaring, especially when they're supposed to care.

Has anyone else heard about anything like that?

what exactly is a school counselor graduated on? That guy should be sodomized.

I agree with Preocupado: that person should have the shit kicked out of 'em, repeatedly.

what Ricky said. whatta tool.

while it's probably true that being openly different will get you bullied, it's the counselor's job to deal with situations like this in a supportive way. oomg.

None of us have said there's anything wrong with them at all. What's your problem?

Sounds like the counsellor is being paid by the bullies themselves.

A psychologist told my sister she needed to get different friends during the first meeting, about 10 minutes in.

It makes you wonder how some of these people get into the line of work they do.

shit advice indeed.

I once got the advice; "what happened to you is absolutely horrible. let's forget about it & never talk about it again" from a schoolteacher. she mainly said to protect the school's good reputation, which annoyed me to hell & back.

That psychologist should be sodomized aswell. Giving advice goes against psychology's principles.

My friend was getting bullied at school and the teacher told her to ignore it but it's a bit hard to ignore them when they're beating you up.

hahahaha, like the psychologist I had: "well, if you don't think constructive thoughts, why not replace them with constructive thoughts?!" & she looked at me with a smile like she'd just invented the teletimemachine.

My favorite ever, was the 8th grade counselor I had last year. I transferred in a couple weeks late, so I got a special interview with her. She started off by saying, "I used to teach at a college, but came here to be a counselor, because I could earn more money." Kept talking about rules and stuff, and said something like, "I can keep your secrets, I'm bound by law too. For example, last year a girl..." etc.
