Yeah, yeah, I know another one of those lame "Vote for The offspring" threads. My station just does this thing every year and The Offspring were 17 last year. Number one being Green Day. I don't want that to happen so everybody should vote for The Offspring now. Thanks.

Okay, I don't know the entire list, but The Offspring got 11 (6 places better than last year) and Tool got number one. Sweet.

Did they beat Green Day?

No, unfortunately. Green Day got like 3rd or something. But as long as The Offspring beat Linkin Park, I am happy.

You'd have been happier if The Offspring had beaten Green Day though, right?

Well, yeah, but there is no way in Hell that The Offspring would ever beat Green Day in a popularity contest.

True, Green Day do seem to have the market cornered on popularity.
Maybe The Offspring can do the same with their new album.

I would love to see that, but I don't think it can happen. I am sure that it will be a fantastic album (something tells me it might even be better than Ixnay) but their new stlye doesn't seem very radio-friendly.

It would be fairer to say that their style of music is on a little bit of a down slope instead of not radio friendly. All the singles off Splinter were very radio friendly. And Can't Repeat and Next To You? Also rather radio friendly.

If Columbia gets behind them this time advertising wise, they might do a hell of a lot better.

eh. Whatever. I just think that they realise that their pop sounding stuff isn't doing to well anymore so they need to go back to a harder punk style or maybe somthing else like certain tracks in Splinter. I think another Ixnay=stlye album would be a good compromise.
