Terrorists want to blow up their own children? Man Arnold, I'm disappointed. I think I'll go watch Gigli, maybe my faith in the movie industry will return. :(

Modern actions suck so much.

Nina speaks the truth.

Besides, expecting Collateral Damage to be anything but laughable is like expecting Endy to NOT be asked a computer related question at least once a week. It don't make sense, yo.

Any romantic comedy WITHOUT Adam Sandler, will be bad, has always been bad.

But action films USED to be good.

I <3 Adam Sandler.
I fuckin h8 Hugh Grant.

I've long ago given up on Hollywood-produced romantic films.. The Notebook was nice, though.

[insert mandatory praise for Indian cinema]

A romantic comedy with Adam Sandler and a romantic comedy with Hugh Grant should really be in two seperate genres. They just don't even remotely feel like the same realm. Adam Sandler ones (minus Mr. Deeds) are usually quite funny, while Hugh Grant's don't even try to be funny, or clever, or cute. They're just god-awful and make me want to gouge my eyes out.

Much like your preference for indian films, I prefer german romantic comedies.

Oh Sanni, you've been on my friendslist for way too long. I'll never take your opinion on films seriously. Lolz bollywood.

Mr Deeds is one of the best films ever. Shutup llamas.

Vera

There's beauty in Hindi cinema. When they make a good romantic movie, it's ten times more engaging and appealing than its Hollywood counterparts. When they make a shitty movie, no matter what genre, it is usually hilariously bad and thus ten times more entertaining than your average Hollywood bad movie.

My taste in films rocks, dude. At least I didn't pay for a Gigli DVD.

I've never seen one, but a German romantic comedy seems like a really funny idea.

Nina

It's not as funny as it sounds. Just really bad quality. Really, really bad.
I dunno what people always think of Germans, but 90% of the time it's wrong.

There's a famous romantic comedy from Germany called Goodbye, Lenin.

There is a girl (her last name is Lenin) and she likes this guy. The best line in the film is when the man says to the girl "we must go in the back room for efficient german sex."

In the end they break up, hence the name "goodbye, lenin".

Yes, Collateral Damage was a horrible and boring movie, but I've seen worse. The worst movies I've ever seen are, "Master of Disguise" and "The Date Movie." Most parodies suck, but this one was horrible.

YES!!!! Holy shit voodoomagik, I've ALWAYS said that My Giant was the worst movie of all time. On the rare occasion that I encounter someone who's actually seen it, they always agree that it was bad, but stop short of calling it the worst movie ever. Well, fuck that shit. It's the worst movie ever.

Most people like Team America.

However, here is a contrast in one series. Robocop best film ever, Robocop II and III worst films ever.

Also Dave check action-online forums. TIG did a pretty good review of land before time. :p

Collateral Damage = :(

Romantic comedies w/o Adam Sandler = even worst

On shitty movies: Last night the open TV flushed down Darkness Falls on the viewers. Tooth Fairy isn't scary.

Did Collateral Damage (or Enduring Love for that matter) feature 6 Biffs? Then it's not the worst movie ever. Back to the Future II is the worst movie ever.

Nina- I didn't check who was posting about german films... I knew you're from germany. My mistake. :P But really, you don't like goodbye lenin or lola rennt? I've seen some movies that I thought were really good. Those aren't my favorites, they're just the only ones I remember the names of ;). I actually also like Im Juli, just because it's so weird and fucked up. I think it's funny in a messed up way.

Team America was awful... but yeah TONS of people love it.

And Goodbye Lenin was not really about a woman in a coma... it was about a woman who was a very strong activist for the DDR in germany, and she falls into a coma, and when she wakes up, germany is reunified, but she could die if she takes any shock, so her son decides to create a life of lies to keep her under the impression that germany is still divided and that the DDR is going strong... because he knows she wouldn't be able to handle the concept that the DDR failed and the BRD cleaned things up.

Team America sucked.

And Bollywood is fucking awesome. Almost as good as nailing your penis to a burning building.

edit ; as for German films, the only ones I've seen are Downfall, Lola Renscht, and that one where the hippy faggot anarchists break into mansions and re-arrange the peoples furniture. They were all pretty good.

lola rennt is the only one of those I've seen. it reminds me a little of "butterfly effect", but no ashton kutcher (so better acting) and not so cheesy/shitty of an ending.

The only German movie I really liked was Das Jesus Video. And I can garuntee I've seen nearly as many German movies as American ones. I just think the cutting/filming is trash quality :[ I can't enjoy a movie when that (very important) factor bothers me.

My favourite German film, without a doubt is "Hilfe, ich lieb mich eine Jungfrau!" (trans: "Help, I'm in love with a virgin!"). It's a softcore porn film (or "titty movie", whichever you like, no sex is shown IIRC) from the early 70's. It's also supposed to a naughty comedy of some kind.

Here's the vague excuse for a plot:

There is a playboy, who is also a duke. He has some debts, so he flees to the countryside to his grandmother's castle, companied by his servant. On the way he meets a girl called Amélie and the girl's chaperone, a foxy marquise. The same girl is engaged to him by the order of his father. He doesn't know this and the girl doesn't know he's her future husband. They fall in love during their stay at an inn. Then the police turns up to capture the duke (henceforth called Armand) and his servant. They both escape the police along with the girl and the marquise. Amélie doesn't trust Armand yet and she runs away with the marquise.

Then a whole load of things happen, the police are always running around chasing Armand & his servant, for some reason lots of women get naked, there's some dressing up as nuns and Indian people and Amelie sees Armand in bed with other women (but these times are always set-ups) and doesn't want to marry him anymore, but then he manages to change her mind... But there's a happy, romantic ending.

That's right! It's historical!
