in that case, I know I've done something SHE sure hasn't.

What was that for?

She might not know the use of the expression "bump" yet, and it won't be me the one who teaches her that.

I really don't understand what people want with threads like these.

They want other people to get them.

I thought it was mildly amusing.

Except people don't really get each other. Sometimes it seems everyone is talking nonsense and misinterpretations.

This thread just reminded me of Garden State.

I'll go do a silly dance.

But ain't that the beauty of things? We all have language as a medium to communicate, using words with generally-agreed on definitions that still leave plenty of leeway for personal interpretation. And even through this straighjacket of a finite vocabulary of a few thousand words with which to describe the infinite experiences of creation, we still manage to maintain a high level of uniqueness. The fun involved is attempting to decipher each individual's unique, coded, way of manipulating this course and all-too limited medium of communication in order to understand the person underneath, so that our lives are enriched by their knowledge, experiences and opinions.

Definitions vary not only cross-culturally but also interpersonally and damn, even intrapersonally. Even more so between languages. Describing reality through words is a dangerous thing to do.

What makes people adopt a definition with personal interpretation? Is it experience? Is it environment? How can you really be sure you know what exactly the other person means? Are we just assuming instead of understanding?

I'll reply later. Possibly drunk!

Am drunk! But instead of replying, I'm going to watch a pirated copy of MI:3 I bought for a buck. I had a great conversation about it with a friend, though.

Oh, and I totally communicated with a cat just by saying "Meow" in various tones. Makes you rethink communication in general when you realize that any animal can do it. It's just a matter of relative sophistication. Alright, time for Phillip motherfuckin' Seymour Hoffman.

HAHAHAHA man, is everybody else thinking the same thing, or have we (me & you, yes Andy, me and you) just had a telepatic moment?

I was thinking same thing, but it doesn't feel funny, it feels good as hell.

Actually, I was thinking that the person just stuck their pinky far into their belly button. Apparently, THAT feels weird.

Yes, yes it does.
