I hear you guys are getting a heat wave. Lawlz at you! It's been 97 the past three days here, PLUS the heat index, which in the humid southeast is ridiculous. 114 in Arizona feels cooler than 97 here.

Sunny

it was like 96 F here today, and humid as a mother fucker.

no balls of ice/fire/anything though. YET. :[

It hit 101 here yesterday and it's been a steady 96 or so lately.

My housemate is from Phoenix and even he's pussying out and dying. That's how ya KNOW it's serious out there.

I think today reached about 99. Yesterday it was still 96 degrees at about 8:30pm so I dunno what it was during the day but it felt horrible.

I'm pretty sure today was the hottest day we've had here so far this year. Got up to 99 with 61% humidity and blazing sunlight, and I was working outside for 7 hours today.

I'll take severe heat over severe cold anyday though.

It's been in the mid 80's-early 90's here all week and humid as fuck. I have soccer conditioning every day from 4-6 too, which makes the heat that much more annoying.

sKratch
07-18-2006, 07:40 PM
It's called conditioning for a reason ;[

And there was some hail in westchester... my friend put a piece in his freezer, and I think it set a car alarm off in a parking lot I was by.

And it's been 97 around here lately with the UV rays high, or something like that.

I'm so glad I'm in Denmark right now, and not in Holland. Holland when it's hot is gross and yuckie, Denmark in summer is juuuuust perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. And a little breeze. Ah, I love it.

JoY
07-19-2006, 02:01 AM
you are a meanie. :(

but on Huib's boat, the temperature is just right.<3 not to mention I'm going to Switzerland in a few days. whoo! (you don't even want to know how hot it can get in the mountains there. :[ but circumstances are refreshing & totally cool, like clean cold rivers, wind, eternal snow, yay!)

Tizzalicious
07-19-2006, 02:04 AM
2 years ago I was in Switzerland with my parents, and it was waaaay too fucking cold. Usually it's nice there, I agree (or warm!), but now the weather was bad everywhere, and that was a reason for my parents to just stay, even though they promised me we would go somewhere else if it was cold. But no: "The weather is bad in Italy too!", of course, but we'd not be as high up in the mountains, so it might rain there too, at least it won't be as cold. OR SNOW. Grrrr. And I slept in a tent!

JoY
07-19-2006, 02:25 AM
a TENT?! that's torture in itself, anyway. I only like camping when it's in my own backyard. (yesyes, I'm POSH) what season/time of the year was it? the weather in the mountains of Switzerland can change by the minute. ugh, I remember one summer it rained so much, there was a gigantic mudslide in Brig. although that might have been earlier in the year, I dun remember. but I also remember severe snowstorms on a perfectly sunny day. mountains are so weird. kinda spooky sometimes, weatherwise.

this time of the year it's most of the times awfully sunny (hot) in the area we're going to. but that's fine, the circumstances are too perfect there to complain about heat.

I generally agree. Extreme cold is better than extreme hot. You can always put on more layers of clothes when it's cold but you can't remove layers of skin when it's hot.

You guys think that you have it rough? I have to drive all the way from my apartment to work in a black car with a leather interior and a poorly operating air conditioning system. And I work like an entire mile away from work and I have to deal with suburban Iowa traffic. Then I have to sit in an office building that's a blistering 75 degrees and do two minutes of work an hour and sit on the internet for the other 58. LIFE IS PAIN!

That's the way that I've always viewed things, and I already like wearing layers. It bums me out that I can't wear hooded sweatshirts, suit jackets, or coats when it's warm out. And I don't wear shorts so gg on that option.

It's never just a nice 85 degrees here. It's either freezing cold, hot like 98-107 degrees, extreme wind, or rain.
And sometimes we get 106 degrees with wind...freezing cold with wind...it sucks.

Yes, it can be 110 degrees here, and I live in Washington. Who knew?

Tijs
07-19-2006, 07:42 PM
It's been really hot here as well. It hasn't seriously rained in... weeks I think now. We're in the middle of the second heatwave and yesterday has been the hottest day since somewhere in the summer of 1911.

They canceled a big event here involving about 50.000 people walking like 25 miles a day. 2 people died and hundreds passed out.

And to make it all worse, a lot of the lakes here are unsafe to swim in due to some algae. Glad there's still the river where we can swim in, but if you go to far in the current would drag you along, is great though. Sitting on the 'beach' between wild horses.
