What is your favorite guitar solo of all time?

Mine would either be the solo in Dazed and Confused by Zeppelin
or Beast and the Harlot by Avenged

But because you are fairly new, "The Wicked End"- Avenged Sevenfold and "Dog Eat Dog"- Ted Nugent. There a lot more I can't think of right now.

I cant really think of a favourite solo...theres too many that I love. It'd most likely be something by David Gilmour or Randy Rhoads though.

I'm a sucky guitarist and I know Synester Gates isn't that good.

As far as punk rock goes, Black Flag's "Slip it In" has some great guitar work. Other than that, I like the solo in Black Sabbath's "Hand of Doom". And I saw Steve Vai's "Tender Surrender" an youtube. Amazing. And Paul Gilbert's version of "Scarified", too. The one when he's not in Racer X, and they have the spacesuits.

Does anyone else find Michael Angelo Batio's stuff some of the most boring "music" ever made?

Could'nt agree more if I tried. His technique is impressive as hell and all, but it just sounds like an arcade machine gone wrong.

Whiskey in the Jar.
I always thought they were James's solos...

Either way, Thin Lizzy wrote them first.

Definitive the guitar solo on the Offspring's "Jennifer Lost The War", it's simple, but it's so great

I sort of like Metallica's Blackened solo, it's a nice a combination of all the instruments. It doesn't have to be the most complicated to be good... Master Of Puppets is another masterpiece.

Shot By Both Sides-Magazine, brilliant solo.

That Master of Puppets solo is very similar to the one in One.

I think Kirk was the one who played Whiskey in the Jar, but as you say, he didn't create it. Still good though.
