An idea I took from another forum who claimed to have taken the idea from another forum themselves. Try not to make sense of that sentence. Anyway...

The idea is that I post a song, and the next person down has to listen to it (via download, CD, or otherwise), rate the song, and post a song of their own. Simple, isn't it? OK, I'll start.

Fugazi - Merchandise

Great game!

Well, I've listened to the song, and I'd rate it 7/10. Although I like the music and lyrics, I don't quite like the singer's voice.

Next song... Ultravox - "Vienna"

I, too, like this game.

Ignite- Slowdown.

I was expecting to hate it just because of the name of the band and song. But I liked it more than I thought I would, so I'll give it a 7/10. That dude has a really unusual voice. And normally I'd find that voice really annoying, but I actually kind of liked it because it was the only thing that made me pay any attention to the song, because let's face it, aside from that guy's voice, there's nothing original about that song at all. Still, a considerably stronger song than the majority of stuff in its genre, and I really liked the way the song ended.

Might I make a minor change to the rules of this game? How about if the person recommending the song is highly encouraged to upload it themselves. Because some people don't have file-sharing programs or whatnot, and also, you should have to go to the trouble of uploading it when you're whoring your own music, which is exactly what you want to do anyway. If you're taking a chance on someone else's music that you'll probably hate anyway, you shouldn't have to waste any more time than you already wasted listening to the song by searching for it somewhere.

This is not really a style I'd like, but I'm liking this one. The song sounds very full, the vocals go well with the song, perfect backing vocals. I don't really like the end of the song though, duh-duh-duh-duh, sounds a bit too easy.

The song reminds of The Living End wich is a great band. I don't really like the vocals of Mad Sin though. And I think the fast bass-drum doesn't fit in this song. But if you forget about those 2 things there's a good song left to listen to.

Ah, legendary melody. Must be one of the best symphony songs around there, so I gave good points for it because it's top of the style it represents. Not that I would listen to this volumes at maximum at total ecstacy, but you've gotta' respect this song. Jacques is da man, fuck Mozart, Bach and all those other guys.

So Called Plan- Same About the Sorrow

I chose to check this one out because I don't know what it is about Finnish music, but I almost always love it. These guys seem to have a really weird mix of influences. High keyboard sounds were obviously influenced by Scandinavian dragon-metal bands, and the rest of the song was basically pop-punk, except the guitars were way beefier than most music in that genre, which shows the additional metal influence. I really liked the way it began, but after that I didn't really like the direction the song went. The chorus was sort of a letdown because it was a really generic pop-punk chorus, which was a shame because they had sort of built up an interesting melody with some good sounds. Still, they seem like a band with lots of potential. I'll give this song a 7.5/10.

I wanted to wait for another song since I don't think me and AAE's music tastes are alike. But since no one has been posting anything, I'll do it anyway.

5.5/10
Lacks originality. The voice isn't really anything I'd like, sounds like he tries too hard to sound the way he does. The guitar sounds really boring. The drums are alright, but not spectaculair, but if it was it probably wouldn't fit in this genre. Sorry, this song's not my thing. Although I wouldn't walk out the room or ask someone to turn it off when I'd hear it somewhere.

Now I don't want to keep posting rock songs, since that's not all I listen too. But most music that I like which isn't rock, is Dutch, so I'm not too sure what people might think of it. But here it goes: Rowwen Hze, a Dutch folk band, a bit similar to Flogging Molly I suppose, except without the punkrock in it. Sang in a southern Dutch dialect. This band's actually from America. America being a small village about 60km away from where I live.

EMF- Children: 7/10

Not bad at all. I was pretty dubious when I heard the corny-as-hell intro, but it turned into a song that was just plain fun. Reminds me of something, but I can't think of what it is. I was rather hooked from the first time the main riff rang in. The guitar sorta sounded like U2 on ecstasy. I've been meaning to get into some more New Wave music, although I was thinking a little more along the lines of Depeche Mode than this excessively happy stuff.

And mine: The Cooper Temple Clause- Music Box (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=0EB0DD8831D643CE)

I didn't like it. The singer's a Chris Cornell wannabe, but he doesn't have half his talent. The guitar part was really driving and all, but it was exactly the same thing throught the entire song. To be fair, I don't usually like this type of music anyway. Oh, and their name is fucking horrible. Somebody shoot them.

Heres another Lucky Boys Confusion song. This one, though newer, is much more like their traditional style than the other song I uploaded. Very energetic song, and Stubhy's vocal style is perhaps better exemplified here than in any of their other songs.

6/10 Very unique style of punk, not my sort of music, but hey it's not bad. The vocals resemble early 90's pennywise mixed with new age punk stylings. The guitaring riffs in the chorus are what make the song good, through the verses it's to simple and sorta boring. No let down with the drums

I wish I were better at describing music, but I am not. This song was alright. The genre (what genre would his be?) is not one that particularly INTERESTS me. And then it's not particularly catchy either. It sounds so familiar, like I've heard songs like it by a bunch of bands, just can't put my fingers on any, probably because they're mostly forgettable to me. I kinda like that the vocals sometimes vaguely remind me of AFI.

Ummm... it would get 5 or 6/10.

AND, since my band just came out with a new album and they're super super good I have to put one of their songs... just don't know which one to choose... this one is fun. Awesome pop-rock.

It's kinda hard to describe their style. Some people consider Sunny Day Real Estate to be the one of the first emo bands. I don't even really like emo, but I like them. Their drummer drummed for the Foo Fighters from 1995-1997, and their original bassist has been with the Foo Fighters since 1995. That's how I got into them.

3/10. Punk singers seriously need to stop that same kind of horribly fake, phlegmy voice. It sounds like crap. It sounds like crap when Rocket from the Crypt does it, and it still sounds like crap when these fuckers do it. As for the guitar in that song, I would say it's alright, but then again, I liked it better the first time when Bush did it and called it "Machinehead." I normally have a fair amount of understanding when a band has a song that sounds like some other obscure song, but those guys just HAD to have recognized the blatant ripoff-ness of Machinehead in that song.

Note: If you've heard the Blood Brothers before, then kindly refrain from replying to this song. I wanna hear the honest reaction of someone who's never heard them. Just cuz it'll be interesting to see an ordinary wanderer of the offspring.com boards stumble upon a band so simultaneously weird, insane, and awesome.

Bah. I've already heard the Black Halos too. But I downloaded it cause I enjoyed the last song I heard. Decent enjoyable standard punk rock music.

Drunk people?

Anyway, since you already don't fit the criteria for those who can listen to my song (h8), I shall listen to yours and repost the Blood Brothers song.

6.5/10. It ain't bad. I like the lyrics too (masturbation songs = nearly automatic win). However, I feel like the beat isn't quite strong enough to really make me wanna dance, but the melody and composition also aren't quite strong enough to make me wanna listen to it at my own leisure. This band sorta violates my own personal musical credo, which is that there are only 2 true genres: dance and non-dance. Do ya get my drift? Like, if you're gonna make a song that's too repetitive and doesn't really have anything too exciting melodically, or anything to keep me interested for the 4 minutes or so that it lasts, then it damn well better have a hella good beat and make me wanna dance my ass off. This song is halfway between the two.

Anyway, listen to Ambulance vs. Ambulance, bitches.

I'm also not great at describing nor reviewing music, but I'll give it my best. I've heard a lot about The Blood Brothers, and this was my first experience listening to them, and it was kind of a letdown. The singer's voice extremely irritating, and the song seems to be all over the place, and not in a good way.

Ambulance vs. Ambulance is my favorite Blood Brothers' song. You reccomended it to me when I mentioned my loving of Fucking's Greatest Hits and Love Rhymes with Hideous Car Wreck, I downloaded it, and never listened to it because I forgot I had it. Then I heard it and was like "fuck YES!" and have since enjoyed it over and over again along with Burn, Piano Island, Burn. The other, less catchy songs just start grating my ears after a minute or 2.

I'm not reviewing or adding my own song here, just mentioning that.

They have a good mix of rock songs, rap songs, and ones like this that are kind of neither.

Actually pretty good. To begin with I thought it wouldn't be anything special, but once it got going it seemed actually quite cool. I've not heard of these guys before so it's nice to find something new, thanks!

OK, here's some Jesse James:

Cute song. Despite the stupid "lol, too punx for Jesus" content matter, I really liked it. Loads of fun.

More metal!

this song isn't bad at all. Especially since I don't generally like any of the metal like it. Not good enough for me to look into them though sorry. 7/10

6,5/10 The music is pretty nice but I don't like the singing/screaming that much.

I thought it was rather boring. I'm probalby crazy, but I think I started hearing parts of some sum 41 around the end of it. Might be thinking of Still Waiting or some other song. The "so much more" and "just like the time before" melodies also sound familiar but I can't quite pinpoint from where specifically. The fact that it reminds me of other songs can't be a good thing.

More random metal! This time with a fat Korean chick on vocals!

Aw. And here I was, expecting to hear a little sample of what punx kids these days listen to, but noooooooooooooo Jebus wants me to listen to his fatty metal.

;P

It was ok. Kinda hard to say what I think about it, since there (imo) wasn't really much to it... However, I'm a stupid fuck who forgot to write this post, and now I've sort of forgotten what the song was like. And now I have to download it again since I just clicked "open". And the download is still fucking slow... 10 kbps. But yeah... Female singers in metal who don't do the whole gothic opera thing are always interesting. I guess I'd give it 5/10. It was alright, basically.

Now, a song. It's from a CD I recently ordered. Solstice is the band. So it's epic doom metal. Cimmerian Codex is the song. Very good, in my opinion, however, I'm fully aware that everyone doesn't like this type of music. Do I care? No. Since I'm guessing that's sort of what this thread is for. Listening to music you don't normally listen to.

That was actually really good. When you said "doom metal" I was kind of expecting some insane heavy stuff with crazy growling, but that was a pleasant surprise. I'd give it an 8/10.

Now, I'd be really surprised if anyone actually enjoys this song...
It's kind of Electro/Experimental/Punk-ish kinda stuff?

...I dunno, you'll have to check it out.

HOLY SHIT LODAT, I LOVE YOU! Uncle Outrage is fucking awesome!

I'll let someone else review it though...I just wanted to express my undying love for that band.

Jakebert, I liked yours aside from some of the vocals it was awesome. 7/10

Lodat, The vocals are surprisingly good and I like the music. I remember someone recommend this band to me maybe a year ago and I hated them. It's funny how much my taste has changed. I generally like when songs get softer or slower at some point but I don't think I like it so much in this song, other then that it's great. 8/10

I'll check out both bands.

Ok, I admit, that wasn't a very user friendly song. I like this thread so I am going to bump it with Justice - D.A.N.C.E.
