I thought this was hilarious. It's in German, but they put the English sounding lyrics of what is being sung. (Erde = Hair Do).
The best line is "Turd was captain planet to our socks!"

Now for nostalgia's sake.

I loved Captain as a kid. I even call Tizz "Hoggish Greedly" which I just found out again is a name I got from Captain Planet.

He's a blue superhero, with a green mullet, who flies around in red underpants and a half shirt. And seems to have an unlimited powers.

I almost posted the "Conan is Captain Planet" one in some other thread yesterday. They're all funny.

Reminds me of the Ducktail's theme in Finnish (http://uncutohh.ytmnd.com/).

What I loved most about Captain Planet was how utterly impractical the bad guys were. In one episode, a couple of them decided to destroy the ozone layer. To go about their plan, they built a refrigerator factory at the South Pole. The factory, after first making the fridge in the front half, would then send it along another conveyor belt to be immediately sliced up into pollutants at the back door.

My favorite part about Captain Planet was how unrealistic the bad guy's goals were. It was always their intention to pollute the planet as much as possible. It wasn't like their plan was to make millions of dollars by making elevator buttons and destroying the rain forest for supplies was just a side-effect, destroying the rain forest WAS the plan.

That Duck Tails thing is incredible by the way.

Yeah, wasn't there an episode where this one guy cut down a tree to make elevator buttons? And, in a strange coincidence, it took one tree to make one button.

That was actually from Tiny Toons which is where I got the idea from.

Blue mullets guy was shit compared to Dungeons and Dragons, though.

Cartoon characters centered on types of personalities > cartoon characters centered on political views and ideologies.

The best is that Captain Planet seemed to have no limit to his superpowers.

The best is that Captain Planet seemed to have no limit to his superpowers.

He had a weakness! If you covered the globe on his chest with pollution he lost all his powers and the planeteers still couldn't use their rings so they had to find some other source of water to clean him off.

What are his powers, anyway? I know he can fly, but what else was there?

Anything specific, though?

Like, laser eye beams? Telekinesis? Invisibility?

First off, a message to Mota and others:

FUCK YOU. It's Duck Tales, not Ducktails or Duck Tails. FUCK YOU!!

Still, the Finnish theme was amazing, absolutely phenomenal.

And Captain Planet was indeed unbelievably lame and his villains were impractical.

Yeah, so I didn't click any of the links. Maybe later when I have more time.

I loved Captain Planet when I was kid. Looking back I can't understand how I didn't notice that he was an environmental terrorist. I maybe love it even more now because of that.

We did not have it in Slovakia, I but I remember the theme song from German TV some time in 1992. Not sure if I ever watched it though.

What are his powers, anyway? I know he can fly, but what else was there?

From Wiki:

Captain Planet has a very impressive array of powers: He can fly, has great strength, the ability to blow hurricane force winds, telepathy, telekinesis, can change shape, transmute matter, and virtually any other super-power required by the circumstances currently facing him, which, in fact was one of the criticisms against the show. His primary weaknesses are to pollution, radiation, toxic waste, smog, etc. The powers of the Planeteers' rings are also diminished by excessive pollution in the environment around them; as well as powerless when Captain Planet is made manifest. He, like Gaia, is also bound to the physical realm of Earth: while capable of flying into space, his powers-- and even his very existence-- begin to fade the further away he gets from the planet. Conversely, Captain Planet is often healed from the damage he sustains from pollution by absorbing solar energy. However, despite his abilities, even he knows that he cannot solve all the world's problems and that humans must change. Even if he were to clean up all the pollution on Earth, it would matter little if humans continued polluting.

And this is the image that inspired my nostalgia:

And that is also something I thought as a kid when I watched it. Heart power? how gay.

I always fucking hated the beaner too. Heart power, pfft.

And naturally, Linka was my favourite planeteer. I loved how she always said 'da' because we all know what 'da' means, even though she was fluent in accented English and 'yes' would be one of the first words she'd have learned.

Slavs ftw.

As i said in some other thread, Captain Planet is racist. The little guy got heart powers, and the other black one got dirt. While the whites got fire, water and wind.

I'm pretty sure the Asian one had water.

I just realized something. Why would pollution be his weakness? Why is it that the only thing he's vulnerable to just happens to be the one thing he's supposed to be good at fighting? That's like, Captain America weakened by...um...terrorists.

Dude, earth power is awesome! If used correctly you could bring down cities or even entire countries.
