Fucking YES!

Winamp describes Hazmat Modine as "General Unclassifiable," I would say they are Eastern-European Jazz Blues... If that counts as a genre. They're REALLY cool and have a contrabass sax player, 2 harmonicas, a tuba, and the rest of the general jazz outfit. They're American, so ignore the weird Russian guy in the beginning/end of some of these. These are all LIVE clips, btw, which is quite impressive:

I'll upload more once my friend burns me the cd, I just felt those of you with cool music tastes would love this.

EDIT: This is a recent band, too, their cd came out 2 months ago: 8/29/06.

There's just something neat about having a Tuba for a bassist.

Double post/bump because I just found out that my guitar teacher played guitar for these guys a few years ago, which is crazy. I walked into my lesson and he asked me what I'd been listening to lately, and I was like "this really weird band called Hazmat Modine..." and he was like "oh, I know them! I played for them a few years back..." and I was all like "wtf?!"

Apparently, the harmonica/singer stole all of his solo time, and it made him angriez. He also asked for crazy emphasis on beats that made no musical sense.

EDIT: missed a video: Who Walked In (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-96PkUd78CU)

winamp has a genre called ''negerpunk'', wich means negroepunk in swedish.

What does negerpunk mean about the music? That's how winamp described some Mr. Bungle songs I have, but I didn't know what that meant, but I wasn't sure if it just meant that black people made it (which they didn't) or if it meant something else.

EDIT: certainly of the 108+ of you who've looked at this thread, more of you have an opinion on the music. Typical sub-1337 thread =( le sigh

negerpunk is a selectable genre when editing IDtags to your mp3s.

I would say they are Eastern-European Jazz Blues...

Most definitely. It sounds very Eastern Euro/Russian. The blues elements and singing more American. But the harmonicas made me think they are Russians. And the Russian at the beginning made me giggle. I like! This is definitely jazz café music.

I approve.

Yes, that's all you get.

Those videos need to focus entirely on the tuba player. Just him bobbing up and down through the whole thing. Good stuff.

I wish they hadn't cut the Contrabass saxophone solo in the live version. On their myspace, the cd version is up where you get the full awesomeness of the contrabass sax.

Btw, I'll have the cd by Tuesday, and I'll load the whole thing up for you guys because I'm amazing.

This band makes me think of another band called Gutbucket. They're a little more spastic and they don't have vocals, but I think they're sort of in the same vein.
