From what I've heard, they just wanted to make fun of the ska songs. And thay did that too in Don't Pick It Up.

Yeah, I doubt they would hate ska. They've used it a few times.

What Happened To You is about a friend doing drugs.

It was a joke, because the song resembles ska in many ways.

Don't Pick It Up was especially hilarious, because in many traditional ska songs Pick It Up is a popular phrase.

So they probably did it on purpose just to be ironic, I love it.

Exactly! i think this is one of their best joke songs and a lot of people seem to hate this song only because they don't understand the irony in it.

Imo, if someone change music to something sad or agressive it wouldn't ska :D
But i still hate ska, u'll hate ska 2 if one day hear our rus ska...that's the scariest thing in whole world!
And u can't slame with ska playing...only if you're stoned :)

You need to listen to Streetlight Manifesto, your opinion of ska will change forever.

Yeah, for the worse. ;)

And a square is a type of rectangle. Doesn't mean they're the same thing.

I actually meant that reggae is a type of ska... ska has been around since the 1950s, and reggae broke into a type of ska in the 70s or 80s. If something is reggae, it's also ska. saying "it's not ska AT ALL, it's reggae" is like saying "it's not a rectangle AT ALL, it's a square".

Deathstar: everyone on this board thinks that about streetlight. rickycrack introduced me to them, and I like them, but it did NOT change my opinion of ska. I was not a fan of the genre in general, and I still am not. I do like that one band, but they are not typical ska.

Oh man. I'm not even gonna try to argue with some of the idiot-ness in this thread. Even if The Offspring doesn't like ska, it's good shit.
