Remember how awesome their old LucasArts game was? Remember how excited I was to hear about them making a sequel? Remember how much I cried when I heard the sequel was canned by LucasArts? Remember how ecstatic I was when I found out yesterday that it was picked up by another developer (http://www.telltalegames.com/samandmax) and is still being released? Those were good times.

It was a fun game. But the dog was all dressed up and he didn't have shoes. And it irritated me so much that I couldn't play the whle game. I know, it sounds fuckin stupid and lame but whatever...

And off topic; Monkey Island, ftw.

They're not releasing the game "Sam and Max: Freelance Police" but a series of shorter, downloadable games set in the S&M universe. Telltale games is made up of developers that left LucasArts after Freelance Police was canceled.

I've already bought the full season and played the first "episode". It's actually the first computer game I've bought within a year of its release since... maybe the last Monkey Island. The puzzles are a bit simple and the game is a bit more linear than I'm used to, possibly due to it's short length, but the humor is dead on and the whole thing is a ton of fun. Slightly annoying that you have to access the internet in order to play it, but not an enormous issue If you're going to buy the episode ($8.95), I'd suggest going ahead and purchasing the whole first season (six episodes, $34.95).

Josh, have you ever played Psychonauts? Yet another member of the LucasArts team that left to form his own company, and it's really freakin' sweet.

Sam & Max and Monkey Island = staples of any healthy person's childhood, seriously.

About 300 different kinds of amazing, right there.

Isn't the new game being released on the Wii too? That's another sign of assured awesomeness.

You'll actually be able to order the game on cd if you want after all the episodes are released from what I've heard.

I've never heard of Psychonauts but I might see if I can find it someplace. It's got good (http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/psychonauts/index.html) ratings (http://xbox.ign.com/objects/482/482075.html)

Psychonauts is a bit more action-y than most adventure games, as it was made for the X-Box, but it's done by Tim Schafer, the mind behind Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, which were personally my two favorite LA adventure games. It's one of the most creative games you'll play and even the action sequences - mostly fighting bosses - require puzzle-solving in order to take 'em down. I rented it on the X-Box and beat it in a weekend, but I'm saving up my money (perhaps a Christmas present to myself) to buy a signed copy of the game from their website (http://www.doublefine.com/) just to give 'em more money.

Oh, and in case you're interested, another Lucas Arts veteran is currently working on his own adventure game called "A Vampyre Story (http://www.amegames.com/vs/)."

The genre isn't dead, apparently. There's a website (www.adventuregamers.com) that tracks new ones. As someone that hasn't really been excited about video games for several years now (sole exceptions being the original Halo, Psychonauts and Half-Life 2), I'm suddenly psyched to see the resurrection of my favorite genre.

Psychonauts is a kick-ass game.

I got Psychonauts the other night. I've come to the conclusion that the Lungfishopolis level is quite possibly the greatest level of any video game ever.
