They used to call themselves anarchists. I don't think that they still do. Their old stuff was acoustic folk. I'd like to hear some of it, but I can't find it anywhere.

As for their new stuff - I heard Don't Lose Touch, and I hated it, but then I heard From Her Lips To God's Ears and I though it was a good song. Those are the only two I've heard.

I've got two of their albums, As The Eternal Cowboy and Searching For A Former Clarity. It's fairly good stuff, and I wouldn't mind hearing their older stuff (I'll have a search).

edit: if you use a torrent downloader try thhis link (it should work)

I have both Eternal Cowboy and Searching For A Former Clarity, and think that they are amazing albums.

As well i can't get the song Searching For A Former Clarity out of my head.

I like them. Not a huge fan, but I have some of their songs and I like their sound.

I downloaded this which contained all of their albums I think, and I didn't like it at all. I don't like the vocals, the guitars... Nothing. It just sounds annoying to me.

I saw these guys live a few weeks ago and had a lot of fun, but never really bothered to go further (I was underwhelmed when I first heard heard them). Then their new cd was put on myspace, so I decided to give As The Eternal Cowboy another listen (I got it right after the concert, but found their live show to be a billion times better).

I'm hooked. Holy fucking shit, I am hooked.

New Wave is probably going to be my album of the year.

"White People For Peace" is arguably the catchiest song ever.

no tehre selloutz!!!

I hate the entirety of the youtube video's comments for White People For Peace. They're all either "THESE GUYS ARE GAY SELLOUTS" or "WHAT HAPPENED TO ANARCHO PUNK FOLK ANARCHY??!?!" and it's fucking stupid.

But yeah, I'm so psyched for the new cd. And the new Gogol Bordello cd. And the new Bomb The Music Industry! cd. This is a good month for punxxx.

Since I bought the cd yesterday, I have listened to it at least six times. It's seriously fucking good. The only problem is that it's only 30 some minutes long, which can be annoying when the last fifth of the cd isn't as good as the other 4/5, but I like being able to put it on repeat and just listen to it again.

My last.fm is going to be pretty much only Against Me!, but there will be a little of the other cds I bought with it, I guess.

Can someone upload the new CD (or any of their CDs, for that matter)? I'm interested in listening to them, but the only response I get from Soulseek is one jacktard with m4a files.

I picked up three cds on Tuesday, New Wave by Against Me!, New Maps of Hell by Bad Religion and Zeitgeist by the Smashing Pumpkins, unfortunately I haven't really been able to listen to the last two as i've practically been listening to nothing but New Wave. New Wave contains everything that i love about punk/rock and roll, - clever lyrics and above all catchy music. Tom Gabel defiantly knows how to take an interesting and compelling story and turn it into a catchy as hell track, and "Thrash Unreal" is a perfect example of that. The album does have its flaws however, like coke_a_holic mentioned the first half is better then the last, but in the big picture it doesn't really matter. Against Me! has the power to change rock for the better, and with New Wave i think that they did just that.

Jesse, here are all BUT the new cd, which I'll upload later:
Reinventing Axl Rose (http://batinabox.com/music/Against%20Me!/Reinventing%20Axl%20Rose/)
As The Eternal Cowboy (http://iplaybass.flyingstove.com/Music/Against%20Me%20The%20Acoustic%20Ep/As%20the%20Eternal%20Cowboy/)
Searching For A Former Clarity (http://iplaybass.flyingstove.com/Music/Against%20Me%20The%20Acoustic%20Ep/Searching%20For%20A%20Former%20Clarity/)

Jacknife - I really liked the lyrics to The Ocean:

If I could have chosen, I would have been born a woman. My mother once told me she would have named me Laura. I would grow up to be strong and beautiful like her. One day I’d find an honest man to make my husband. We would have two children, build our home on the Gulf of Mexico. Our family would spend hot summer days at the beach together. The sun would kiss our skin as we played in the sand and water. We would know we loved each other without having to say it. At night we would sleep with the windows of our house left open. Letting the cool ocean air soothe the sunburned shoulders of our children.

excuse me sir wtf r u doin

i dont think new wave is that good. its got about 4 songs i actually like. the biggest problem with the album i have besides the fact its on a major label is that it doesnt have any acoustic guitars in the songs which was a big part of the other albums. and im pissed they are not going to be playing small clubs anymore.

You're right, I'm not sure why I reacted in such a harsh way. I mean, they ARE on a major label, so how good can they be?

im not saying its bad because its on a major label. but id prefer if it wasnt since iv been listening to them for many years and i prefered when they played smaller clubs. its not just the "Punks" that dont like the fact against me joined a major label. practically all the old fans were against them joining a major label. sure i dont really blame them but it still sucks and i dont feel like seeing a bunch of 12 year old goth girls walking around with against me shirts on when they have only heard the newest album from the radio.

Why should it matter? They've worked incredibly hard to get to where they are. Would you rather they remain poor? Why would fans be against a band's hard work finally paying off?

Does it matter if other people like their music? The new cd is fantastic, there's nothing wrong with other people recognizing that.

I tried. I tried as hard as possible. I really did. Still don't get what you find so attractive about this band. I didn't find them any less bland* than any other average punk band. The good news is that I decided to check out Bomb the Music Industry! again to get the boring out of my ears and I'm happy to report that I like them now.

EDIT: bland*

Jebus: I hated them for a full year. Literally one month ago, I saw them live (because Cursive was playing, and I figured they'd be fun live), and I was still like "eh." Five days ago, I inexplicably fell in love with them. The great thing about the band is Gabel's lyrics and his obvious passion for what he's saying.

Basically, there's no middle ground with them, you either hate them or love them. Bomb The Music Industry! is fantastic no matter what, though, and I'm glad you like them. New cd/batch of downloads comes out in 2 and a half weeks!

EDIT: also, the later albums are less punx but more enjoyable than the first. Searching For A Former Clarity is my favorite as of right now. The first song on it, Miami, has been stuck in my head all day.
