Yeah, share your faves. I have a few albums that were released in 2006 that I haven't heard yet, and though some of those songs might end up being on this list later, this is how it stands now:

1 - The Blow - Eat Your Heart Up
2 - Gnarls Barkley - Just a Thought
3 - Ratatat - Loud Pipes
4 - AFI - 37mm
5 - Billy Talent - Fallen Leaves
6 - Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
7 - The Blow - Fists Up
8 - Damone - What We Came Here For
9 - Obie Trice - All Of My Life
10 - Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - Young Shields

Hon. Mentions: The Coup - My Favorite Mutiny, Depeche Mode - Martyr, The Roots - Baby, The Blow - The Big U, Ratatat - Lex, Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back, Billy Talent - This Suffering, Ratatat - Kennedy

Do they have to be from 2006?

Since Billy Talent II is 13 songs and not 10, I'll have to make a few omissions. I could do without "Where Is The Line?", "Covered In Cowardice", and "Sympathy".

So yeah, that's my (temporary) list of the best songs this year.

Do they have to be from 2006?

...what the FUCK kind of question is that?!

Since Billy Talent II is 13 songs and not 10, I'll have to make a few omissions. I could do without "Where Is The Line?", "Covered In Cowardice", and "Sympathy".

"Sympathy" is amazing :(

Also, where's "The Killing Lights" on your list, fag? lolololol :P

In no order because I can't deal with ordering it right now:

Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins, "Rise Up With Fists!!!"
Lansing-Dreiden, "A Line You Can Cross"
TV On the Radio, "Wolf Like Me"
Jose Gonzalez, "Heartbeats"
The Knife, "Marble House"
The Knife, "Silent Shout"
P.O.S., "De La Souls"
Imogen Heap, "Hide and Seek" (may have been 2005, but I listened to it so much in 2006 that it might as well be current)
Spank Rock, "Rick Rubin"
Envelopes, "Sister in Love"

Nice love for Casiotone, Ricky! ;)

JohnnyNemesis

Nice love for Casiotone, Ricky! ;)

Lawl, word! It's funny, cause before Ratatat, The Blow, and Obie Trice released albums near the very end of the year, I expected "Young Shields" to be my number one song of the year. Then I listened to lots of other stuff, etc.

Little_Miss_1565
12-22-2006, 09:35 PM
Yeah, me too. "Young Shields" is my #11.

No, they don't have to be from 2006 at all. When I asked for everyone's Top 10 songs of 2006, I expected them to share a random collection of songs released at random points throughout history. As a matter of fact, this thread has nothing to do with 2006 at all. :p

Btw, both of SOAD's latest albums were released in 2005, not 2006.

adombomb222
12-22-2006, 09:48 PM
Wait, so I can have songs that are not from 2006? I wasn't sure when System came out with them... though it was early this year.

Ditto. Also. if I had to delete one song off Billy Talent II, it'd be "Sympathy". It's almost repetetive.

That version of Finest Worksong is great, but it was released on their first greatest hits album.

Plus, Theme From Two Steps Onward is probably the most favorite R.E.M. rarity ever recorded, since everyone has known of it's exsistance for years, but it just got released this year.

Yes, I'll admit that R.E.M., Belle & Sebastian, and Sonic Youth is pretty much the most college-faggish triumvirate you could possibly assemble. But at least traditional college music like R.E.M. and Sonic Youth is better than the current wave of college music taking over. Nowadays in college you've got your indie crowd listening to Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, and Sigur Ros, and you've got your earthy, jam-band hippie faggots listening to Dispatch, DMB, OAR, and Carbon Leaf. I'll admit it right here: modern college students probably have the worst music taste of any current demographic. Including the 13-year-old demographic.

I've been buying all these cds from the past, I need to remember which are actually from this year...

1. Camouflage, Camouflage - The Blood Brothers
2. One Better - Les Claypool
3. Walking Away - Streetlight Manifesto
4. Fake Tales of San Francisco - Arctic Monkeys
5. Filipino Ray - Les Claypool
6. Dorothy at 40 - Cursive
7. Laser Life - The Blood Brothers
8. Keasbey Nights - Streetlight Manifesto
9. Lift the Veil, Kiss the Tank - The Blood Brothers
10. Day In, Day Out - Streetlight Manifesto

Kinda thrown together, I guess. I wish I could've listened to the Beck cd a little more to get a better feel for the songs. I also wish the AFI cd could've been less bad so that it could take some places from the Blood Brothers and Streetlight. Oh well.

yay

Way to go trupunx 15 year old. You may or may not be 15 but judging by your musical taste I have deducted that you are in fact 15 and you would totally get that mohawk if your parents would let you. Either that or you're older and you have the musical taste of a 15 year old, take your pick.

Billy Talent - were i the line
The title of this apparently alternate version sounds far more poetic and meaningful than the actual title of the song.

So I'm assuming you two actually know what the name is from?

It's from the 1996 Halloween Simpsons special, actually. That's where the comic strip got that from.

Apathy

I know that. I just posted the comic because I think it's funny.

edit: how could the band have named themselves after a comic about themselves?

Come to think of it, I Voted for Kodos is actually a pretty cool name.

On an unrelated topic, people are fucking stupid. The Avenged Sevenfold CD came out on June 7, 2005. If you all look carefully, that's last year, which is not this year. This year is, in fact, not last year. Why does everyone insist on putting songs from last year on a list for this year? They're not the same year, you know. Fucking idiots.

Don't ask me how I know the exact release date of City of Evil off the top of my head. I have no idea.

Edit: Same goes for System of a Down.

Avenged Sevenfold was popular during winter 2005, so that's probably how people might have thought 2006. I remember because I know I first came to this board liking Korn and Avenged Sevenfold. Plus, bd007h would "advertise" the band.

It's the only note-worthy song on that album, though. and pearl jam just can't be respected after what they did to Last Kiss. :(

Factually incorrect.

Also, Pearl Jam can do WHATEVER THEY WANT after "Black", "Dissident", "WMA" and "rearviewmirror". Songs like those transcend humanity.

Pearl Jam is shit? You listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers and fucking Hanson. HANSON.

LIKE OMG NOBODY EVER MADE FUN OF ME FOR LIKING HANSON BEFORE!!!! wow. The only reason I insulted your taste was because you insulted Sam. I don't give a fuck what you listen to, and I never claimed my taste is superior to anyone's. You just have NO ROOM to insult anyone, like Sam, when your taste in music is far from perfect.

Individual music taste is the stupidest thing to argue about ever.

Bye.
I agree.

And Ricky, it's factually true that SexyBack is the suckiest suck on that cd!!!
