I thought I'd put some of them up here. At the moment I can only record a minute at the most, but that shall be fixed soon. If you like these, I can do all the songs if that's the case but here's now three covers only at the beginning... opinions?

You seem to be a good guitar player, but the guitar sounds like shit (edit: walla walla is cool, i'm talking about leave it behind)!

It's not like I would have a high quality studio, and it's really hard to find the best balance between guitar and drums but what the heck, I think the sounds are pretty good for a home using only.

What are you recording in? If it's a multitrack program, may I suggest recording the drums first and then layering two or 3 tracks of guitar to make the tone a little fuller?
Spot-on playing tho! :D

Brilliant idea, I should've done drums first of course. And I need to download some better recording program, I just now used the windows voice recorder.

Yeah, just wait 'till I get them perfect quality, hah. ;)

By the way, while you're here check out my own song, it's only 40s though but I'm working on it, very Offspring sound-ish, don't know about the sound quality in there because I have different settings and I can hear it good but don't know about eveybody else... http://download.yousendit.com/FED4217352546226

If you want it to sound slightly better, create a vocal melody using single notes on the guitar. On the hole though it sounds brilliant ;)

Logic expres 7.2 is the best program, also Pro Tools LE 7, but you willl need a good interface

Alright, some setup changes at the guitar pedal now, here's my upcoming hit single, it fucking rocks I dare to say even though I made it. Check it out. ;) And yeah yeah, I'll stop posting now my own songs but they just keep on coming, and this one I just like it to end... if you like The Offspring you'll like this one for sure... but what do you think about the sound now? http://download.yousendit.com/914A30F3733F8093

Glad you liked it, I like it too. I don't know if I'm a selfish pig or what but I can't stop listening to my own production, that specific song I mean, haha. The guitar sounds now so much better on that.

Yeah, someone logged in as I was recording...

I don't get it why it takes Dexter so long to write. ;) Just joking...

You don't need to be a good "guitar player" as you put it to play offspring.

are you using guitar pro for the drums?

Nope, played them with my electronic drums. Which are connected at a mixer and that into the computer... and then used the windows voice recorder, ha. But now I've got a better program, Cool Edit Pro 2.1 so the stuff should come out better...

ahh there electric drums, thats why it sounded so clean. I personally hate electric drums because they sound unatural, but thats my opinion. Back on subject, that new song you recorded is awsome, a very catchy riff.

Yeah I liked the newest one a lot, have you considered getting a band together so you can play some of your stuff?

We'll see, but right now I'm just making songs for my own fun, in a Dexter way so that I write everything, hah. Lyrics are very tough though... But creating something new (songs) is fun.

Yeah, you've definitely got something going there. I think I read that you run the drums through a mixer. Do you do that with the guitar too? It usually sounds better if you mic the amps, but whatever your way is your way. I recomend that you add bass, that would add a lot and give it a fuller sound.

A program that I've really liked using is Audacity. It's really simple but I think it works it pretty good, try downloading it.

Yes, I actually do. Good hint, I could try that but I have a real crappy microphone but I've done some stuff before and it definitely sounds better than throughout a mixer, yeah. I wonder why I didn't use this method before...

Yesterday I got a program called Cool Edit Pro 2.1. I've heard it should be pretty good. You know something about it? I haven't tested it yet, but I'll try what you recommended (mic the amps and use this program). It might come out pretty nice, I hope...

Motaboy, those songs kick ass! Good job.

I especially like the third one, it's got a really catchy riff and it has great potential. Well done again.

What gear are you using (guitar, amp, etc...)? I really like the guitar tone you have.

Oh, so you like it. There's a lot to improve though. I'm using a Behringer V-AMP 2 which goes into some cheap mixer.

http://www.studica.com/products/product_images/Behringer/VAMP2.jpg

Like they are advertising it, the V-AMP 2 is based on state-of-the-art amp modeling technology, allowing you to achieve a wide variety of realistic amp sounds without the hassle of miking an amp. That's what I did in this case, but I'm trying to mic my Marshall next and see what happens. But if I still post Offspring covers here it should be better quality and maybe with vocals too and the whole song of course. ;)

Thank You Marco! They all are few years old. and yeah the third one is fullversion and i like too.
Only if i could hear Dexters voice with it. =) I´ll sell this song for Dexter... 5 bucks only! =)
When i put my new studio together i´ll make some new ones.
Offspring covers can be made too. ;)

Hahaha yeah that would really be cool. If I may say though, in the third song, the "verse" part could do with another hook riff, or something interesting, because it's the least catchy part of the song. That's the only thing I have to say though, it really kicks ass.
