Great band, if you take out the political bullshit hippiedom. Pretty much in the same vein as System Of A Down: music is pretty listenable, definitely talented, but they should stick to their goddamn profession.

Apparently Morello just got arrested at some protest rally for backtalking a cop. Fucktard.

I never listened to RATM, I've heard a lot about them but not their music. Could someone recommend a decent starting point?

Yeah, art isn't about expressing opinions, especially if that opinion is contrary to yours.

I hope when they reform, they realize how much they suck as Audioslave.

Killing in the Name and Guerrilla Radio are the only two songs I know by RATM. Great songs, but is there anything else from Youtube you can recommend?

I'd say start at the beginning, it's probably their best album. Simply entitled:Rage Against the Machine. Great Great Great work out of the nineties.

Audioslave most certainly does not suck.

Rage were better, but Audioslave has put out some shit-hot quality material. Better than 99% of the modern mainstream rock out there.

As for Rage and starting points, all you really need is their Self-Titled album and Battle Of Los Angeles. All the rest of their albums are filler. Yes, the entire recordings. The whole thing. Their career is made up of Self-Titled and Battle. Ignore the rest, it's B-grade horseshit.

But those two albums are pretty damn extraordinary.

more news

Tom Morello recently discussed the highly publicized reunion from Rage Against The Machine with MTV. The band played the main stage at the first Coachella in 1999 and will perform this year alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers, Björk, Interpol, the Decemberists, Sonic Youth and many more.

First, Morello explained why Coachella and why now?

Is it coincidence that in the seven years that Rage Against the Machine has been away that the country has slid into right-wing purgatory? I think not, It occurred to all of us that the times were right to see if we can knock the Bush administration out in one fell swoop, and we hope to do that job well. This administration has done enough damage that it may take generations to undo. This is an administration that believes it's beyond the laws of the land, which is fine for emperors, but not so great for presidents. One thing this president isn't above is the laws of physics, and there is no action without reaction.
Besides that, Tom did not rule out the possibility of future performances the band. Considering the wild effect festivals have had on everyone from 108 to Lifetime to the Pixies, one can only speculate.

Morello cofounded the band with former Inside Out vocalist Zach de la Rocha. They split up in 2000 and their final release was the posthumous live recording, Live At The Grand Olympic Auditorium.

Yeah, it's better than it by sounding exactly like it.

He can make some really weird noises, but it's not as hard as you might think. I can turn up all my fx and press buttons on a remote and it'll make similar sounds.

*No, I'm not saying that I'm better than Morello. I'm not even close, but I definitely agree that he's overrated.

Which, by the way, isn't even Tom's own fault.

I dont think this needs a new topic, but Tom Morello just released a new album with his band The Nightwatchman. It's folk stuff, a la Johnny Cash. And the new cd sounds good.

I've been listening to it nonstop I'm not really a big fan of 'folk' music, but i quite like this.
