View Full Version : What type of camera do you have?

I was just browsing through the photo's section and most of the digital camera pictures are really clear. I have had bad experience with camera's in the past, either being crap, blurry, or break too easily and i'm sick of it.

So, do you like your camera? is it durable? good quality? etc.

Basically, would you recommend it?

Nikon is always a good choice

I have a Canon Powershot A610 and based on my experience and online reviews I have read, it's a pretty kickass digital camera.

It takes amazingly clear photos, has great zoom, great colour, good video and sound if that's what you're into. The worst part would probably be the bulkiness, it actually takes 4 batteries and is fairly large in general. However, my parents got me the type with batteries for traveling, etc.

I think this model may be discontinued but there are similar ones.

Re: Above

My film camera is a Nikon and despite much abuse for a lot of years it always took decent photos.

I have a Kodak EasyShare CX7300 (I don't know what that means). It cost me less than $100, it's 3.2 megapixels and the pictures are nowhere near as sharp as I'd like them to be. Then again, it was less than $100 so I didn't really expect much.

mine is a Nikon too, but its not working very well at the moment, when I charge my batteries I only have time to take 4 pics and then it turns itself off, and I tried with other batteries and it was the same....

I've got a samsung digimax A6. It's 6megapixels and the pictures come out really well. I've even had a few photo's printed at A4 size and they look pretty damn good. The only problem is that it doesn't work well in the dark, requires longer exposures and could result in possibly blurry pictures. Also it's only got 3x optical zoom. I guess though it's good enough for your average pics. I don't think they make it anymore though.

Kodak EasyShare CX7530

5.0 MegaPixels, pretty good zoom and very easy to handle. I use it daily; either for photographing things I'm selling (which means the pictures HAVE to be clear, which they always are), for my own amusement (taking pictures of myself and clothes...it does have a self-timer) or for when I go on holidays and want to take beautiful pictures of the landscapes.

I have to say I am incredibly happy with it. It cost me about 150, but that was one or two years ago, it is probably cheaper now. I can take many beautiful and fun pictures with it.

examples (from all areas):

I have a Caplio G4 Wide (RICOH). I think it's awesome and I get a lot of compliments about how good my pics are, so I guess it's just a good camera. It sure isn't my way of picture taking.

hrm, i'm considering a kodak now then, i've never had one before (which i'm surprised at)

i'm looking at this (http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=9/19/31/9592&pq-locale=en_GB) model (if the link works)

but on ebay it is much cheaper

Nina

It looks like a decent camera, but do you really need 7 megapixels?

Zeall
01-31-2007, 08:20 AM
it was more the anti-blur aspect of the camera that i like, but the whole thing seems well built for the cheap price that is wanted for it

i'll keep looking for a better deal

Canon Powershot S80, which is eight megapixels which is just ridiculous. I got it before going to China, though, and the outrageous amount of detail is worth it when you're showing off pictures of a crowded city street and can zoom in on someone a block away hocking a loogie. Also, you know, ancient temples or the Great Wall at sunset or stuff.

Nina
01-31-2007, 08:23 AM
What I have experienced is that you have to figure out what distance to use so your pictures wont get blurry. Honestly? I dont think you need 7megapixels and this anti-blur thing for your pictures to NOT turn out blurry. mine never are, and I am not a super-skilled photographer.
For a Kodak, it wasnt that much of a good deal ;P

ok thanks, i'll reconsider then, you know alot more than me about camera's

can you suggest a good one, with a link and everything?

I got a Casio something or other, with 7.2 megapixels. The best part is I got it for free after living at this guys place, working for his company for no money, drinking his wine and eating his food.

Ah to intern again.

I have two, because my brother is a photographer and sometimes gives me cameras he doesn't use anymore. So I have a FujiFilm e900, 9.0 megapixels that I got from him, and an Olympus Camedia, 5.0 megapixels I got for myself about a year and a half ago.

I'm still trying to figure out the Fuji one; alllll the pics from it are either horribly overexposed or too dark. The Olympus worked fine, but was slow.

i currently have a Canon PowerShot SD900 ELPH. 10 megapixels (omg weee), facial recognition, really good image quality. it's pretty sweet and has a durable body (titanium i think). and a cool scrollwheel thing. definitely recommend it. it's just a point-and-shoot though, and it's a little bulky for a brand-new digicam.

if you're looking for an SLR, i recommend nikon d70.. if they still make it. =p i used to have one, and i liked it quite a bit.

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W5

Personally, I think it's a rather good camera compared to the ones I've seen my friends use. However, a little problem this camera has : it always tell me that the picture's going to be blurry because my hands move or something even if my camera is completely stable.

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/W5/W5A.HTM

I only skimmed read it but it gives a good idea of how this camera is.

If you're interested in seeing what kind of pictures this camera can take, tell me.

edit : no idea if you can still find in stores, I bought it a year ago.

Olympus Camedia 2.3. I bought it three years ago when it was still pretty expensive and good. Now it's not worth so much. It's crazy how everything keeps advancing.

Mine's a DXG-305V, or whatever it's actually called.

http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/88/07/34/03/0088073403050_215X215.jpg

It's got a bunch of nifty features, but the pictures aren't really that good unless there's lots of light. That wouldn't be much of a problem, but the flash is way too bright sometimes.

Fuji Finepix e550

It's alright, I didn't pay enough attention when buying this though, max exposure time is only 3 seconds, totally pointless for night pics on a tripod because 3 seconds with very little light is still dark. Newer models are improved on that front. Pictures look pretty good. I really haven't tried this out to the best of my abilities, I bought it for something 'handy' to use to take pictures with and it does that.

http://www.entique.com.au/sony_dcr-vx2100.jpg
Sony DCR VX2100

For my camcorder. This thing is prettty good. Used it to film a bunch of live shows and its performed very well every time (it even drank a bit of beer once). The onboard mic is a piece of shit (at least for live music) and the 'infolithium' batteries seem to fuck up after time (not one of the 3 I have has an accurate representation of how many minutes are left). It lacks the xlr inputs of the PD models, which would be nice to have. When I get the cash and the need, will probably upgrade to an equivalent HD model. I'll need a new comp and to upgrade my edit software before I get that though.

Sony DSC V1, it's quite old but it's pretty good, I also got it from a friend so it was pretty cheap, ha!

I love the fact I can do all the setting myself... Not that I actually know that much about it, but I'm learning!

it's a cannon 35 mm manual-automatic. digital photography looks so unrealistic and impersonal. actually, not if you turn off the flash. some people have a knack for it. but I dunno, there's something so unromantic about digital.
