It's Official: DAVID LEE ROTH Rejoins VAN HALEN

David Lee Roth has officially returned as the singer for VAN HALEN and will join the rest of the band on a North American tour this summer. The 40-date trek will mark the first time since 1984 that original VH frontman Roth will perform with Eddie and Alex Van Halen along with new bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's son). According to a press release issued today (Feb. 2) by Janie Liszewski from High Profile Media, "VAN HALEN fans can look forward to legendary high intensity performances, featuring a setlist of the most iconic hits ever produced by America's premiere rock band."

Eddie Van Halen said in a statement, "I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN."

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on January 31, Rhino Records has set a March 13 release date for VAN HALEN's "Best Of (1978-1984)", the first single-disc compilation exclusively spotlighting 1978-1984, the group's original David Lee Roth era. The album, which coincides with VAN HALEN's March 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, contains over an hour of remastered classics from the albums "Van Halen", "Van Halen II", "Women And Children First", "Fair Warning", "Diver Down", and "1984". Highlights include "Runnin' With The Devil", "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", and "And The Cradle Rock". Also featured are "Everybody Wants Some", "So This Is Love" and "Oh, Pretty Woman". The CD booklet will contain rarely seen photos and liner notes.

According to MelodicRock.com, VAN HALEN featuring David Lee Roth on vocals will likely play two dates in Las Vegas at The Pearl at The Palms Casino on April 27-28 before kicking off a full North American tour sometime late spring/early summer.

Well, I disagree with Eddie, this isn't the core of Van Halen. Michael Anthony was part of that too, something the Van Halen brothers seem to have totally forgotten, not only was he an original member, but he was a big part of their sound with his singing harmonies. Anyway, if this doesn't all come down before it starts due to ego's, it should be really cool...unfortunatly it will never leave America, and I won't ever see it.

This is completely awesome news. I loved DLR's stuff so much more than Sammy's. I think I'm going to go to this show with my father, as they are his favorite band of all-time and he's the one that got me into them. Plus, he'll pay.

Gah, sweet, almost the real Van Halen. *chill runs down spine*

I almost forgot to mention that I hate each and every single person that sees them, this time around, out of spite and jealousy.

Me, and you deserve to be sodomize to death

I just... don't like DLR... I mean, he WAS good... but not anymore. They were better with Sammy... anyway, I won't buy that CD, it's so stupid when I have the best of both worlds 2 CD

That's a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge if though, which is unfortunate for VH fans. Big news indeed though.

I saw them with the Van Hagar line-up a few years ago and I'm happy enough with that. I've always liked Sammy more than Diamond Dave.
