We skipped the 2:00am hour. I don't get it. I looked at the clock and it was 1:59 then I looked at the clock 1 minute later and it was 3:00. Can someone please explain why they skipped an hour today. And how often do we skip an hour each year?

Why are you making a big deal out of it? Didn't your media warn you?

Read up.

it was a joke. And according to the forums, we gained an hour.

They made it 3 weeks earlier this year to save energy.

Too obvious of a troll, not funny enough.

I did not see the funny in it, but at least I learned from Wiki that North America changed it much earlier than us.

My media did not warn me.

I'm all for saving energy, wish I didn't have to lose an hour of sleep though.

I'm so glad we don't have to deal with Daylight Savings Time in Arizona.

That wasn't even remotely funny. :-/ I haven't seen many worse attempts at humor on this board... except maybe by Dain.

I don't care if it's lame, I love pointing out when attempts at humor fail so hard it's almost funny - except it isn't, because HOLY SHIT that just wasn't funny at all.

How bad can it get when your best joke is "LOLOLOLOLOL daylight savings"?

I <3 daylight savings time. Its the sign that summer is coming. Spending days at the beach with friends, going on road trips with the family, hiking all over, swimming, barbeques, random parties.

What are you talking about? You live in California. For you, summer is all year long.

Unless, of course, you live in some parts of San Fransisco, where Summer is colder than winter, what with the fog and stuff.

A) How does this save energy?

B) How was this thread supposed to be remotely funny?

A) You don't use lights in your house as often because it stays lighter outside longer.

B) because I'm a funny bunny and Everything I say is funny.

argh.. that change in daylight saving got weird over here in the border.

I live in Baja California (Mexico), it's the only state in my country that has the same Time zone California (USA) has. But, now that the United States has changed their daylight saving time, if i cross to San Ysidro for the next 3 weeks, I'll have a different time: one hour ahead. After those 3 weeks, we'll have the same time.

Maybe it's normal for other people according to the cities you all live, but for me it's the first time.

My friend from home was ranting about how the money saving is based off a 30 year old study that didn't account for a lot of stuff.

California is quite a long state. The upper portions of it have four seasons. I don't know where she lives, though.

But you use the air conditioning, which uses way more energy than any other device you might use.

Also, apparently, updating software etc to change to the new DST could supposedly result in a net loss of money.
