This can be a topic about The Offspring's record label.

They just recently hired Rick Rubin. http://www.vibe.com/news/news_headlines/2007/05/rubin_columbia/

Columbia's hot right now and they'll make The Offspring big again, trust me.

Butch is a n00b.

Rick is a Messiah.

They got now all the biggest weapons working in there, Rock with The Offspring, Rick as the boss. Jesus, now it's all up to Dexter. :)

Come out and smash'em up!

Well actually Rick's not probably working with The Offspring, but he just became the head of the company, he's got a big word to say in this business. Bob Rock is the man in charge of the new album and he's the second biggest name so they got pretty rad people working with them and they can be pretty happy about being in Columbia right now.

What we have to say is : if they don't make the record we all expect, The Offspring we'll be dead. BUT I'm sure they will make an album as great than Smash or Americana (I speak about millions albums sale), so don't worry :o

I can't see that happening ever again. They might very well make a great album but I don't think they'll ever repeat the success they had with Smash and Americana.

Rubin has produced a lot of bullshit albums recently, just remember that.

Unfortunately, there's more to blame than the producer if an album sucks. Come on, you guys have seen "Some Kind of Monster." Bob Rock facilitated work--he did not write. St. Anger is squarely on Metallica. It is far too easy to give all the credit to the producer when an album is good, and all the blame when it's bad. It's simply not true. I have no idea what kind of businessman Rubin is, so I have no idea what sort of job he's going to do at Columbia--what is he, A&R?

Quoted for truth.

As can be seen by the fact the new album will suck just as much as all of their other shit.

Rick Ruben will never work with The Offspring. Which is a shame, but seriously, I don't think Dexter and the boys really want to push themselves as artists or musicians these days. Don't get me wrong, I love this band; however I'm pretty sure they are just content with making good albums for themselves and radio, as oppose to having a huge massive cock of CD.

I say this because a lot of Ruben's albums tend to be viewed as huge or colossal.

Rick Rubin took a personal hand in the Red Hot Chili Peppers from early on, and with Johnny Cash because he's Johnny Cash, but what I hear lately is that his associates end up doing most of the work and he gets the credit for it. He is no longer a producer that makes someone huge anymore; he works with those who are already huge. So don't be down on the Offspring for that.
