I used to be concerned about the cult of $cientology, but I'm starting to think that in the end they'll just wipe themselves out.

Apparently, new membership for the "church" peaked in the early nineties, and it now only reports something like six thousand new members a year, with many "second generation" Scientologists leaving the church.

Hopefully, it will eventually take care of itself.

I'd be more reassured if they believed in celibacy. But Hubbard was cleverer than that with his cult.

There was a sect called the Shakers, and they did not believe in procreation. I don't think they're around any more ;o
Edit: They do still exist... I didn't feel like reading the whole wiki, so I may have them mixed up with someone else. I definitely learned about a religious sect that didn't procreate when I was in American History in 11th grade though.

It was either the shakers or the quakers. One believed in no sect, the other believed in many many children. Neither are particularly big today, strangely enough.
