So I let my little sister do whatever she was going to do in the computer, and one thing led to another and i have like a thousand adware and spyware. i tried to delete them but WHAT? my Norton thingy-majiggy expired. Do you guys know any good Spyware/Adware deleter thingy that is free or has a free trial so i could delete those nasties?

I sang that song to 1565 yesterday in an AIM conversation. True story.

I can attest to the trueness of that story.

You know what would make your story cooler? If it provided an answer to my question. but yeah, haha. that's a cool coincidence.

I'm a fag and use AOL's. It's actually the most effective thing I've tried though. I had a couple virus/viri nothing could get rid of and AOL did. If nothing else you could do that until you find something better because it's cheap and easy to download.

Spybot S&D

And for Anti-virus...

NOD32.

AVG, adware, and spybot are a good programs to start cleaning up your computer. Just make sure to run them while in safe mode.

If all fails, I'd just reformat. That's probably the the first thing I would do anyways and not bother with the scans. I've never been able to complete rid of spyware once I've been infected. Some of these malware programs and just way too persistent to get rid of.

How do I reformat?

You probably want to save that for a last resort since you lose everything in the process, but if you have your windows cd still, just put that in and restart your computer. When the computer first starts up, before the OS loads or anything, hit F8 and then choose boot from CD. Once you're in there, you'll have the option of reformatting.

Everything as in ... everything?!

I might do that ... as soon as I find the Windows CD.

Also, Endymion is right. I'm just going to get a Mac sometime in the near future.

thank you.

The new Ad-Aware (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Free/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5) is supposed to be really good. I know this is probably what Jebus tried to say but he managed to miss an A.

Don't reformat unless you absolutely have to, is my advice, because yes, everything as in everything.

And what the hell did "your sister" do? Common sense is something you[r sister] should try and use a bit more.

Uh, I don't know. She told me she was just searching these stuff on google and had to download this thing because she couldn't see pictures. I know. She's even more retarded than me.

Omg, that's what I use. Luv ya. Spybot S&D is for free. NOD32 not but it's cracked like everything.

I don't know if you'll get rid of it but this stuff is good for prevention. If you have a little sister, well, then nothing helps.

Ad-Aware is what I use, and it works perfectly fine.
