No West End Riot?

I couldn't decide whether to have What's On Your Radio or West End Riot. As I haven't listened to the self titled CD for a while I chose WOYR.

After just listening to both I realise I have made a grave error, and have edited justly.

0r4ng3, your list is missing a few like "A Single Second" and "Theory of Revolution" and there are a few others I would change, but I like it a lot for the most part. Synesthesia is actually my favorite AFI, but I don't know many others who that's the same for. I'll probably do another list or two tomorrow.

0r4ng3
08-09-2007, 09:06 PM
Damn, how did I forget "A Single Second"? Oh well, there's a few choice songs that should be there but aren't. As for "Theory of Revolution", I only know a handful of early AFI songs by name, but I'll give it another listen.

Also, I considered putting a Blaqk Audio song just to confuse people, but decided against it.

At the moment my favorite band would have to be Afi. This is going to be extremely difficult. Here it goes, probably the most ridicule worthy Afi list.

A Fire Inside.

1. This Time Imperfect
2. God Called In Sick Today
3. ...But Home is Nowhere
4. The Leaving Song
5. The Great Disappointment
6. Silver and Cold
7. 6 to 8
8. Death of Seasons
9. Days of the Phoenix
10. Morningstar
11. Dancing Through Sunday
12. Synesthesia
13. This Celluloid Dream
14. At a Glance
15. Miseria Cantare: the Beginning
16. He Who Laughs Last
17. Keep Out of Direct Sunlight
18. Prayer Position
19. The New Patron Saints and Angles
20. Strength Through Wounding

This took me probably an hour. It would have taken me a lot longer if I didn't get frustrated and started hurrying. The top 6-8 are probably the only ones in perfect order. Some of the lower ones probably wouldn't have made the list had I taken more time. I have like three pieces of paper full of song titles on my desk.

I'm pretty much emotionally attached to the top 6ish. That's why they rank so high, had I not listened to them at a certain point in my life and interpreted them the way I did some of them might have not even made the list.

PilZ-E, it looks good to me, except the last 5 songs. No DU?

'Ever and a Day' nobody?

I'll make my list soon...

WebDudette
08-10-2007, 02:44 PM
The last five are kind of just thrown in there. If I had taken more time I might have picked up a DU song or two. Ever and a Day is good it was on my first list, but that was like 40 songs long.

Some of the songs that made the list (Mean Girl, Machine) do have some exceptionally horrible lyrics too.

L.A.X., along with Dirt Lip and Noise Complaint, is one of the only horrible disgraces for a song they've created.

I can enjoy L.A.X. But if I even start to think that they might actually be serious.... I start to wish they weren't my favorite band.

These bands all have to few songs that I like to make a list so I am going to make three lists of 15 songs instead.

Uncle Outrage

1. Dance Extreme
2. Environment
3. Hardcore
4. King of the Kangaroos
5. The Chemical Man
6. Mister Gossip
7. Confession from Man to Man
8. Octopus Angel
9. I am the Line (Junkstar Megamix) (feat. Richee)
10. Newschool

(To be fair Uncle Outrage has plenty of songs, but I have only listened to one CD.)

Richee

1. Famouz
2. Sneakers Too
3. Radio Radio Radio
4. In The Scene (feat. MC Snacktime)
5. How I Made My Millionz
6. This Girl
7. All About Me
8. Richee From Switchee
9. So Scene
10. Should Have Been

Vyncent Flaw

1. Uncle (Mindless Self Indulgence Cover)
2. The Revolution Electric
3. Self-Centered
4. Role Model
5. Take on Me
6. Unwind
7. Pixy Styx and Crack
8. Merry Christmas
9. electrofags
10. Breakbeat Flash

Honorable Mention: Mike Diva - Unicorns and Kittens.

They are also in favorite band to least favorite. Like my last list this isn't necessarily the proper order/proper songs, but it's close enough. While doing this list I realized how much my like for Vyncent Flaw has decreased since I fisrt started listening to them.

What do you think of my list of The Blow?

WebDudette
08-15-2007, 06:26 PM
Nearly perfect, I would probably move 'Fists Up' and 'How Naked Are We Gonna Get?' up a couple spots and I would have replaced 'Hock It' with 'Pile of Gold' or something.

Top 10 for The Blow (Wally, your thoughts or a list of your own would be appreciated)

The Blow

1. The Sky Opened Wide Like The Tide
2. Eat Your Heart Up
3. Hock It
4. The Big U
5. Fists Up
6. The Love That I Crave
7. How Naked Are We Gonna Get?
9. Where I Love You
10. Bonjour jeune fille

I haven't listened to the Blow enough lately to make my own list, but enough to judge yours.

I agree with PilZ-E, "Pile of Good" would be in my list, and could be one of the top ones. I love "Hock It" and it would definetely be on the list, but probably not that high because of its length. I know you're not the biggest fan of the song, but I still remain a fan of "True Affection", and that would have made the cut. "Eat Your Heart Up" would top my list. But "The Sky Opened Like The Tide" would still be high. Oh, and "Parentheses" would probably replace "Where I Love You".

So yeah, it was a really good list.

WebDudette
08-15-2007, 07:31 PM
'Parentheses' is another song I really like. There is a song on Live @ KSDT thing I have called 'The Democracy of Small Things' that is really good as well. It probably wouldn't make the list but it is a great song. It's also on one of the other cd's but it's not as good as the live version.

I'll probably make a 'The Blow' list in the near future.

Edit: I forgot that I love "'Come on Petunia'" as well though it's a cover so it probably wouldn't make the list.

Edit 2: I just listened to 'Hock It' it's not the song I thought it was. I do really like this song. I would probably make room for 'Pile of Gold' with something else.

JohnnyNemesis
08-15-2007, 09:45 PM
Thanks for the comments, both of you.

Pile of Gold used to be one of my favorites, but I got kind of tired of it after awhile. It almost made the list.

And oh, The Sky Opened Wide Like The Tide and Eat Your Heart Up are more of a tie for first, with everything else super accurate.

replaced 'Hock It'

AFI

1) Love Like Winter
2) Totalimmortal
3) Paper Airplanes (Makeshift Wings)
4) At A Glance
5) Days of the Phoenix
6) 37mm

8) Narrative of Soul Against Soul
9) Fall Children
10) Triple Zero

Rise Against

1) The Good Left Undone
2) Drones
3) Heaven Knows
4) Survive
5) To The Core
6) The Unraveling
7) Dancing For Rain
8) Prayer of the Refugee
9) Behind Closed Doors
10) My Life Inside Your Heart

Both AFI and Rise Against seemed pretty diverse album-wise, which would explain why I love pretty much every album.

The White Stripes

1) Blue Orchid
2) The Hardest Button To Button
3) Seven Nation Army
4) Fell In Love With A Girl
5) Little Cream Soda
6) Rag And Bone
7) The Air Near My Fingers
8) You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As Your Told)
9) 300 M.P.H. Torrential Outpoor Blues
10) Icky Thump

You may have noticed how the hits are on top. That's because the White Stripes really know how to pick their best songs.

How can you not agree with one hundred punks? its upbeat catchy and good song to listen to on a hot summers day when walking with your mates.

I guess most of the songs i put up on my top 20 were more upbeat so i guess its a case of what type of offspring music you prefer for example denial, revisited is totally different to original prankster

I don't have a favourite band, so I may end up doing a couple of these, but I feel compelled to start with Pink Floyd. I'll try to put this in a loose order, but basically try to see songs within about three positions of each other as in the same sort of ball park of awesome.

Pink Floyd
1.Time
2.Echoes
3.Dogs
4.Shine on You Crazy Diamond (1 & 2 I guess)
5.Set The Controls For the Heart of The Sun
6.Wish You Were Here
7.Nobody Home
8.In the Flesh
9.Comfortably Numb
10.High Hopes
11.Astronomy Domine
12.Mother
13.Sorrow
14.Hey You
15.Learning to Fly
16.Money
17.Pigs (three different ones)
18.Coming Back to Life
19.Wearing the Inside Out
20.The Gunners Dream

I think that's sort of an accurate depiction of my Floyd taste, though I did actively stray away from putting too many songs from any one particular album on there a little.

Red hot chili peppers:

1.I could have lied
2.Naked in the rain
3.Hard to concentrate
4.She looks to me
5.The greeting song
6.Knock me down
7.Taste the pain
8.This is the place
9.Savior
10.Midnight
11.On mercury
12.Tear
13.Venice queen
14.Soul to squeeze
15.Parallel universe
16.Save the population
17.Give it away
18.Otherside
19.Under the bridge
20.Suck my kiss

Damn that was hard.

Here's To Life would have been my number 1 if you had asked me around a month ago to make this list.

However If and when We Rise again Has Not, and Will Not ever be included in any such list of mine. Don't get me wrong, I can't find a single SM song I don't like, but I find the song a little boring, always have. At least it's not as boring as 8,9 and 10 off of keasby. Jeez. Word up, buddy! I'm glad you like my list; much appreciation. I still think that "The New Patron Saints and Angels" and "Narrative of Soul Against Soul" are their most underrated songs, but yessssssss, Weathered Tome is fucking incredible.

I still wish I could have included "Self Pity" and "The Great Disappointment" somewhere in there, but I still think it's an awesome list.

EDIT: ps. On second thought, how the fuck did I let "Weathered Tome" slip to number 11? When I listen to it on its own, without trying to rank it against any other AFI songs, I think to myself "easily one of my Top 20 favorite songs EVAR". But when I really sit down and rank 'em, they're number 11. Guess that shows how much I love AFI, I guess.

I'm only familiar with Pearl Jam's first 5 albums (I loved them as much as ever, but never did keep up after Yield aside from a song or two here and there), so my list would be inherently flawed. Jeez no one did NOFX yet okay here’s a kind of list with my choices explained

1.remnants (the longest line really turns me on, perfect blend of crappy-sound and melody)
2.stickin’ in my eye (white trash is very emotional for me)
3.she’s gone (see above, love the bridge)
4. keep punk rock elite (this music ain’t your fuckin industry!!)
5. stranded (yeah okay longest line agin)
6. take two placebos and call me lame (fucken fast!!)
7. hot-dog in a hall-way (love the lyrics, right up there with liza and louise imo)
8. the man I killed (best song off the new album, they’re getting slower again!! Great video clip w/ simpsons on youtube btw)
9. two jealous again’s (best off war on errorism with nubs, amirite? Okay maybe regaining unconsciousness for the “swim into the net” line)
10. The decline then (fast but already too over-produced in my opinion)
11. soul doubt (love the lyrics, love the sound)
12. Six-pack girls and beer-bong (best when drunk at a show)

19. bob (for all the good times and cos rancid did ok covering it)
20. the longest line (you guessed it)
