View Full Version : Angels & Airwaves

I really really love the new vid for :
- the next film I-Empire
- the next documentary Start the Machine
- the next short film for the single Everything's Magic, which is different than the music video I think (for the song itself : a short clip on their http://myspace.com/angelsandairwaves)
- the next album I-Empire, with the date October 23rd (and the cover)

The song with the vid is awesome too (but I know that some of you hate this band...), we don't know its title yet.

(there wasn't a topic about the band yet, only "Atom in AvA" and "+44 or AvA ?" so it's better like that I think)

The first thing i thought of when i saw this thread is atom!

I'm actually kind of excited for this album. The songs/clips that i've heard all sound pretty good, and even better then most of the stuff off We Don't Need To Whisper, and i liked that album.

Anyone know if the short film/ documentary thing is going to accompany the album, or as a separate dvd, or even just released online?

the first thing i thought was tom delonge

the second was high, unbearable whining voice.

The first - and indeed only - thing I thought of was unbearable pretentiousness.

The first - and indeed only - thing I thought of was unbearable pretentiousness.

Yeah, it looks utterly ridiculous, pretentious, and just down right silly, yet oddly enough I still think it manages to look somewhat entertaining

single Everything's Magic.

What the fuck kind of song title is that?

Stranger With Candy

Sounds like a Disney song to me.

What about "A kind of magic" and "Every little thing she does is magic" ? It's from Queen, and Police, and it's sound not bad to me.

Dirty Magic > Everything's Magic.

Dirty Magic > Everything's Magic.

Haha, 2 songs totally different :p but, even if I'm more AvA fan now, I agree with you.

This song sounds OK.

I'll never forget the time I downloaded the entire first album because a)Atom was drumming and b)"The Adventure" was good. I won't make that mistake again. ;);)

This song sounds too much like something off their 1st CD, though.

09-03-2007, 02:39 PM
i saw them live recently and they played some new material, it was ok but the sound wasnt what it could have been! should be good when its released!

09-04-2007, 04:24 PM
i find their music boring. There new song is an obvious example of how tom tried to hard on his last album and isnt as musically advanced as he TRIED to make himself seem on the previous album, becasue the new single sounds insanely blink 182(at the end) .if i didnt know it was ava i would think they were back together. Now plus44 thats a band you can poke a stick at,unlike ava their songs dont all sound the same.im a real fan of mark hoppus.especially for pulling himself back together after tom delonge tore his whole world down around him.

09-04-2007, 06:07 PM
Well I have to say, AVA makes good music...but I find my self more of a +44 fan beacuse I have much more respect for Mark than I do for Tom. Anyways, Mark always had a better voice.

I saw AVA live a couple of weeks ago. They played Everything's Magic and it sounds like a rip-off of Anthem Part 2 (by blink). Especially the guitar intro.

I like AVA but it's an effort, what with ignoring all the pretentiousness, cringeworthy speeches, half the songs on the album...
I have a soft spot for blink and therefore Tom Delonge, but damn is it hard maintaining that.

Another new song :

AvA - Secret Crowds (http://www.punkdisasters.com/media/angels_and_airwaves-secret_crowds-punkdisasters.com.mp3)

Awesome ;)

Holy hell. That's awful. I mean, it's actually worse than anything off of their first album.

It's like they attempted to do two things:
1.) Sound like Blink 182 again to make up for the lagging sales and poor press surrounding the first album. The open riff and chorus, even with all of the obnoxious studio shit, reek of Blink 182 influence. I intepret this as a grab at album sales and good press, due to the press (+44) got compared to them because they retained some of Blink's sound.

2.) Cram in as many special studio/electronic effects as possible, despite whether they sound good or not. The song sounds so crowded that it just sounds like pointless noise. I love electronic music. I love it when rock bands use electronics to enhance whatever feeling they're trying to get across. But the key to doing this is that it has to have a purpose to it, not just be there because it can be.

Also, the vocal track is horrible. A vocalist as bad as Tom really should not have that many overlapping background vocal parts like that, and all of those electronic effects on his voice make him sound even worse than before.

09-11-2007, 04:56 PM
Huh, something seemed strange about his voice in that song. It wasn't better, it wasn't worse, but it was strange. Like, was the song slowed down or something?

09-11-2007, 04:59 PM
It's the obscene amount of computer vocal effects.

09-12-2007, 02:48 AM
It's an online radio player rip.
I don't understand, when they are making "AvA sound" it's bad, when they are trying to be more near to blink, it's not good too. Whatever they do, it's bad... if it was from blink-182 but me saying that it's AvA, you would say that it's bad, if I tell you before it's blink-182, I'm sure you would be less strict.

09-12-2007, 05:35 AM
If they toned down the computer/electronic shit, the song wouldn't be that bad. But all of that completely ruins any potential the song had because they really overdid it.

If you want a better quality

...I don't think you understand what I'm saying. At all.

I hate this band, however I will confess to liking "The Adventure" from the first album. Their only good song IMO.

meh. never heard a song from this band and I'm already tired of them :D
people just can't stop talking about angels & airwaves in this town -.-'

I can't even think of a better combination.
