I just uploaded the Battle Theme to the internets!

Check it out on the following sites:

http://www.supernova.com/againstbelief (last on the list)
http://www.purevolume.com/againstbelief
http://www.mp3.com/againstbelief (it might not be up for a while)

And here's a crappy MIDI of it:

Hey, so, today I decided to record my version of Frog's Theme from the great game that is Chrono Trigger. It's kinda of metal, kind of rock, a little punk, but yeah, I like it. The drums were done with the wonderful program Fruity Loops Studio, because I don't have a mixer, nor enough mics to get a good sounding recording of the drums, but the rest was recorded with real instruments.

You can find it on my band's, Against Belief, Myspace page, since, we'll probably be adopting this as one of our songs.

If you have no idea of what song I'm talking about, or just need a reminder of what the song is, I recommend checking this (http://www.rpgdreamer.com/music/ct/ct22.mid) out before listening to my version, in order to get the feel for the song.

Here's our Myspace: www.myspace.com/againstbelief (http://www.myspace.com/againstbelief)

It's the second song under the new Against Belief original I recorded in the same fashion (Pedestal), so, check that out too.

Tell me what you think!

Where did you get Fruity Loops/was it free?

Apple Loops + Me = Frustration

I want something new.

The song sounds pretty awesome, I like how the guitars compliment each other; that's something I can write out well, but can't seem to do in practice.

EDIT: I like Pedestal, too, but the bass keeps clipping, which is driving me crazy. Sounds good otherwise, though! WORLD TOUR NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT YEAR!

Well I got it for free. *hint* *hint*

Anyways, yeah, originally there was supposed to be just one lead guitar track, but it just didn't sound right.

And about the clipping on Pedestal: Yeah, I didn't really noticed it until you mentioned it, but I don't know what it is... probably because I have the bass turned up higher than usual. If you really care to hear it with good quality, I could send you it.

And, of course, thanks for the comment!

EDIT: I totally forgot about the world tour! I've got to start putting up those posters...

I'll limewire for it, thx. I know that the demo is free, but I need MORE.

But yeah; I found out that by turning the player on myspace down, I can stop clippage, so problem solved.

World Tour will start in 2853. By then, I may have finished 10 songs.

Do the battle music!

Homer

Fine, I'll do every song from Chrono Trigger.'

But actually I was going to move on to some FF6 music. Most likely The Devil's Lab (http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ff6/sounds/midi/ff3devil.mid) (Magitek Factory), or Edgar and Sabin's Theme (http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ff6/sounds/midi/figaro2.mid). I'm even getting the Battle Theme going.

Do the battle music!

Actually, I know exactly how to play that song. Every part. All I have to do is record it. So, who knows? You might hear it soon.

What about the Mt. Zozo music? The only midis I can find online for it sound like shit though.

Homer

Mt. Zozo? Oh man, I totally forgot about that one. The song's actually called Slam Shuffle, and yeah, I can't seem to find a good MIDI. But yeah, I'll see what I can do, but I can't promise anything.

EDIT: Actually, looking at Youtube, there already seems to be covers of the song, and some of Robo's Theme, but no metal/rock/punk versions.

So I'm going to listen to this once War Pigs finishes and edit this, but I want to add that I've never played this game, and I hear Nobuo Uematsu had something to do with the soundtrack, and that it's awesome etc etc. So like, should I download this game, or is it one of those ones thats awesome, but might be a little too dated to play for a newcomer?

edits: I liked it, video game covers in that style seem to work very well. There was a little too many lead guitar tracks going on at once, and with a thin(ish) tone it was a little strange, but again I haven't heard the original to see if it's like that too, but yeah, very good job, nice playing and production.
I should totally cover Big Blue.

Chrono Trigger is one of the best games ever, regardless of age. You should definitely download it. The soundtrack is just one of the many awesome things about it.

Well I'm sold. I'm a big enough RPG fan anyway. *downloads*

Chrono Trigger is one of the Top 3 games of all time, I don't care what ANYONE says.

If you don't play Chrono Trigger, you can't die happy.

EDIT: I also just recently bought Chrono Cross. Awesome.

Never played Crono Trigger, can someone tell me what's so good about it? I read reviews, but they don't explain very well...And I want a better reason than "it was good for it's time." I judge a game on how good it is right now, so it has to be compelling in how well it holds up. Thanks.

Noooooo! One of the worst sequels ever. Seriously. It starts off alright for the first 10-15 hours and the combat system is kinda neat (but not at all like the original) but it all goes progressively downhill and when you finally make it to the second disc, you'll think you accidentally put a steaming pile of shit into the console instead of the game.

What?! But Game Rankings (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/196917.asp) says otherwise.

And I don't like the Battle System, but I can get used to it.

Everyone I know IRL that's played the game shares the same opinion as me on it. The only people I've ever known that liked it were internet fanboys.

Homer

Bah! Now if you have only told me this BEFORE I bought it, opened it, then started playing it. Oh well, I might as well get some fun out of it, then sell it to my friend or something.

Just because he said it's bad doesn't mean it will be. Just play with an open mind. Although, I have to admit his arguments seen more sincere and personal than an online video game review site. And just because Game Rankings said it was amazing, doesn't mean it will be either. I have a feeling if it didn't have the name "Chrono" in it, it wouldn't have gotten as much praise as it did. If I remember correctly, there wasn't really anything I've read in the reviews for Chrono Cross that made me go "Wow!" It also holds the privelage of being only one of four games that got a perfect 10 score. However, it's pretty cool the "Flee" command has a 100% sucess rate. Never really played it, but I'd definetly like to try it one day.

So, I finally got around to recording the Chrono Trigger Battle Theme, and I don't mean to brag or anything (actually, I do), but it's very awesome.

But wait, here's the good part: I use Acoustica to record my songs, but right now, it's being an ass and won't let me mix down my project to an MP3 because it keeps on telling me to register the product, even though I have. Ha! So, there's two ways I can get it into MP3 form: 1. I take my mic and just record the sound, or 2. I go to my friend's house with all the project files and everything and mix it down there. However, I can't do the second one until tomorrow. So, stay tuned for my version of the Battle Theme.

P.S.
When you listen to the MIDI, there's that faint second lead in the background, well, I did that too... with my guitar! Yeah, nothing special, but it sounds awesome.

EDIT: I might also do Robo's Theme, but I'm not sure yet.
