Pardon my ignorance when it comes to technology, or my unwillingness to do a search in Google, but I thought if I got an answer here it'd at least be in latent terms.

I have shit recorded on VHS that I'd like to either burn to a DVD or rip onto a computer. I have no idea how to go about doing any of this stuff, or what I'd need to do it in the first place. Can someone here please put it in simplest of terms for me.

Thanks and praise implied.

A) Get a DVD recorder. Hook up your VHS to the DVD recorder.

B) Get a TV-Card. Hook up your VHS to your PC.

C) I don't know about Australia, but over here most photoshops (as in actual store you go into, not the Adobe program) can do it for you.

Alternative/slighty cheaper method:

Buy a usb tv card of some type, make sure it has an aeriel type socket in (the sort that you have on the back of a vcr), simply plug usb tv card in and then hook it up to vcr, you should be able to press play on vcr and record on laptop/pc using software provided. I hope that makes sense?!

Edit: The same at what Tijs said in B!

Sony VRD-MC3 is a cool device I acquired at my office. This allows for extremely easy VHS to DVD transfer. Also (the reason I got it for the office) it allows for perfect quality transfers of DVR to DVD (DVR meaning the shows your cablebox records, or like TiVo). It runs like $230 in the US. Worth it I think.

it would be cheaper to rip it onto a pc but if you want a dvdrecorder/vcr combo i would say get a lg (this is the one i have)

Thanks for the help everyone. I think I'm gonna go with a TV Card, because it definitely seems the most convenient and accessible.
