Hey folks! Those of you who were around a while ago might remember that, every now and then, wheelchairman (http://offspring.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=180) and I (http://offspring.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=2110) would share some weekly (http://offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23489) "mod picks" on a semi-regular basis (http://offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23938). It didn't last long, and this probably won't either...but I thought I'd give it a shot again and share some songs I've been feeling lately. You might find some good stuff here, and it might spark some discussion.

Oh, and be warned. This edition will feature more songs than usual. Expand your horizons! Enjoy!

Without further ado:

Sono - All Those City Lights (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/02%20All%20Those%20City%20Lights%201.mp3?uniq=-wtongf)

This song/album just came out a few weeks ago. I don't know much about this band except that I got the album and I'm really digging it. They're listed as "Synthpop", but they sound more like straight rock to me. From Germany, but they sing in non-broken English. That opening riff is addictive as fuck.

Afroman - Let's All Get Drunk Tonight (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/07%20Let%27s%20All%20Get%20Drunk%20Tonight.mp3?uni q=-wtonfr)

Remember that horrible "Because I Got High" song? It's from this guy. He has other songs, you know. No, seriously, he does. Don't believe me? Give it a click. Oh, and this one is actually funny!

Berlin - The Metro (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/05%20The%20Metro%201.mp3?uniq=-wtong3)

I'm assuming many of you know this song already. The BEST song from one of the BEST Synthpop/New Wave bands of all time. Just unreal. Fuck you if you would rank this anything less than an 11 out of 10 on the awesome-o-meter.

Yazoo - Don't Go (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/07%20Don%27t%20Go.mp3?uniq=-wtonfx)

MOAR 80s plz. Actually, this song doesn't feel all that dated (at least not to me) because Allison Moyet's vocals are too strong to be stuck in time. You think you've never heard this, but then the chorus is gonna hit and you're gonna be like "OHHH! That song! I didn't know this was Yazoo!"

Los Prisioneros - Tren Al Sur (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/Tren%20al%20Sur.mp3?uniq=-wtonf9)

Unbefuckinglievably catchy and just plain GOOD 80s style music from the 90s. One of the bigger hits in Spanish rock/new wave history. Language difference is barely noticeable because the piece is very accessible and again, so fucking catchy.

Fischerspooner - Happy (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/09%20Happy%201.mp3?uniq=-wtonfl)

One of my Top 20 favorite songs of all time by one of my Top 20 favorite bands. Good synthrocky electroclashy whatever stuff. And there's even BETTER stuff on the album... I just thought it'd be nice to hit you with the rockin'est one.

Dovetail Joint - Level On The Inside (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/02%20Level%20On%20The%20Inside.mp3?uniq=-wtong9)

I don't even like this song too much, but something tells me you guys might. This is the only "hit" song from these dudes from Chicago. Decent stuff.

Proppellerheads - History Repeating (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/History%20Repeating.mp3?uniq=-wtonff)

A few of you might be familiar with this one, but I'm not sure. Maybe the most interesting song on my list. Catchy jazz lounge but rock type feel is how my friend describes it, but I think she's an idiot. Good song.

Thanks. My responses, in no order:

The Sono one is good. I really like it, I should be listening to this a lot.

I can't take the Los Prisoneros one somewhat seriously, and normal, with the Spanish.

"Don't Go" seems a little too gay. The Berlin one was pretty close to entering this territory too, but it's too good to be gay.

The Propellerheads one is cool though. Tough to say if I'll listen it to it too many more times though.

I also really like "Level On The Inside".

"Let's All Get Drunk Tonight" IS a lot better than the other two songs I have by him (you take your pick on the two), and probably catchier. But I still think "Colt 45" (or Crazy Rap, whatever you want to call it) is funnier and more fun to rap to with a bunch of drunken friends.

And I saved the best for last. I don't know why I didn't discover this song earlier, as a Fischerspooner fan, but "Happy" is fucking amazing.

Woo. Been awhile since I've been on the forum.

Not to intrude on JohnnyNemesis's thread, but I have a band to share with everyone, and since people listen to him and read his shiznit, I figure this a good place to put it. They're called Enter Shikari.

Anyway, to go along with J.N.'s synthy tangent, and throwing in the hardcore element, this band is very fresh and amazing. If you're into music with screaming, you'll find them very refreshing.

Here's a few songs:

Enter Shikari - Sorry, You're Not A Winner (www.megaupload.com/?d=VD3LTGE5)

Enter Shikari - OK, Time For Plan B (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I2NW1N33)

Enter Shikari - Mothership (www.megaupload.com/?d=WTL4XNJ0)
