Holy shit yes. Does anyone have the entire Insatiable cd? I want it, but I don't want to spend money on it and what little searching I've done for it has been fruitless.

10-22-2007, 01:49 AM
i've got it. i think nieh sent it to me. i'll upload it tomorrow evening if you can't find it on soulseek.

also, there's this awesome band from 1980 called Chandra. Basically this 12 year old girl really liked this one band, so she asked them to jam with her and the result was this post-punk post-disco awesomeness with a 12 year old girl doing vocals and violin. i've set it to upload at http://www.csulb.edu/~plecnik/Chandra/Chandra/ , but it will take a while to upload.

Awesome. I remember trying to find anything of theirs on youtube and giving up once I realized all the videos on the first couple pages were of stick figures.

Chandra are insanely awesome too.

How do you people know EVERY FUCKING BAND IN THE WORLD????

10-23-2007, 01:06 PM
Thanks, Endy!

Wolfbutter: We don't. I actually asked Endymion a question very similar to that about... 3 years ago. Three years later, I only really listen to "underground" bands for the most part. Rawk.

10-23-2007, 01:42 PM
here's how to get into awesome underground bands:

1) stop listening to the radio
2) if you want to listen to new music, check "similar bands" on last.fm or search for a band on soulseek and see what else people who have that band have on their hard drives.

that's about it.

also for anyone interested, definitely check out James Chance & the Contortions. spazzy rock with great sax. they definitely inspired the stick men and naked city.

Teenage Jesus and the Jerks?

10-24-2007, 01:48 PM
yet to listen :( been buuuuusy. two midterms this week.

It makes me sad that this thread is on the second page of results when you search google for "the Stick Men".

10-28-2007, 03:32 AM
that is sad.

also, teenage jesus & the jerks -- not really feeling it. they obviously heavily inspired the coughs (and numerous other bands), but didn't do anything for me.

I e-mailed their drummer like a year or so ago to see if he had any Blu Beth and the Gentleman Caller stuff (which was basically an early Stick Men) and he said he'd check with Beth and if he was able to get any he'd put it on his site. So I checked his site tonight and it's still in the same 'under construction' condition that it was in way back then, so I figured I'd e-mail him again to check up on it and got this back.

i did make cds of some of the early stickmen things that i have...there isn't a whole lot but something has survived...

i am cataloguing everything and have to move soon as well

i will try to send you an mp3 or post something on a stickmen my space page.

keep in touch with me

so bumping this to see if anything from blu beth has surfaced. i'd love to hear it.

08-30-2008, 11:06 AM
Oh crap, didn't see this. He hasn't e-mailed me with anything and there's nothing new on his site. He said he might try putting some up on a Stick Men myspace but I'm not seeing anything on any of those that's not already on the album.

so about a week ago i finally ordered the insatiable cd from amazon. i'm currently struggling getting the ~22 minutes of live footage uploaded, but it will get done eventually. and the footage is pretty fucking sweet, even though the video and audio quality isn't so great. i'd transcode it to something else, but i worry about degrading the quality even more than it was on the cd.

08-30-2008, 10:14 PM
Is there any overlap between the stuff on there and the stuff already up on youtube?

08-31-2008, 02:52 AM
This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.

Boo! I wanted to see the dance again.

08-31-2008, 03:19 AM
i shall get it up eventually, and the thing on youtube is the last few minutes of the 22 minute video on the cd.
