I've noticed a lot of Finns here listing them as a favorite band and such... I heard of them in like March when some Finnish friends put the "Kiila" album on my computer, and I'm just recently realizing how much I love them. As of now, I have "Kiila" and "Eika Vielakaan Ole Edes Ilta", which I am guessing are their newest two? They're really damn good, and I especially love "Koneeseen Kodonnut" and "Pahempi Toistaan". I'm curious as to what other people think about them (besides Sanni. I already know what you think :P), and if anyone has suggestions as to other albums to check out.

They're good. They even opened up for The Offspring in mid-90's in Finland.

This might be the best song from them in my opinion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI4Ad5Pta1g

This one (acoustic live) is great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfxuwK7U2Bo

There are plenty of great songs... but the newer stuff I don't maybe like as much the old... they used to be my favourite just before The Offspring and the album Aivan Kuin Kaikki Muutkin is the album that I got really into.

Come out and smash'em up!

Its one of my favorite finnish bands (with Stam1na and COB) and their music is really great, i also think that the old stuff is better even tough "eikä viel ole edes ilta" is a great album.

in that video you can clearly see that they are one of finnlands most popular bands.:D

I just watched the videos that were linked... I really liked Viivakoodit, but wasn't big on Reunallat. I already liked Syopa (it's on the Kiila album), and it was cool to hear an acoustic interpretation. I really like what they did with it, and I so love his voice! What album is Viivakoodit from?

By the way, does Apulanta mean anything?

I like Finnish rock, so I checked out their album "Eika viela ole edes ilta," and it's worth hearing, if not exactly mindblowing. "Koneeseen kadonnut" is easily the best song on there though and I see you've already heard it, so I guess I'm not much help.

What are some other Finnish rock bands to check out? All I really know are Apulanta, Sunrise Avenue, and Poets of the Fall... the latter two of which sing in English. I like Apulanta the best of the three. Well, I know Nightwish, too, but they're not exactly just rock. Any other suggestions?

by the way, yes, Koneeseen Kadonnut is easily the best. Fucking awesome song. Do you have the live version? I think I actually like it more than the studio one.

Who else could this band be compared to?

Come out and smash'em up!

nearest bänds to apulanta i can think of are "don huonot" and "tyrävyö"

LOLZ Tyrävyö. I remember them as this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WKABFddmiJM

But on the other hand their later stuff is very similar to late Apulanta. http://youtube.com/watch?v=cvo-zgh4mMg

When I think Apulanta I also think Tehosekoitin, because the two bands had a record company together (still do, it releases Apulanta's albums etc). Tehosekoitin had some cool songs like Kaikki nuoret tyypit & Pillitä Elli pillitä. Probably goes without saying they sing in Finnish.

My friend is really into CMX, rather dark lyrical rock. I rather like Zen Cafe, though not enough to purchase. Both with Finnish lyrics.

The Odorants and The Knob are very "Offspring-y" punkrock, in English.

One band whose album I was veeery close to buying - they sound like less gothic AFI - is Disco Ensemble: http://youtube.com/watch?v=PgXfQsGasQg

Very true. If one likes The Offspring, they will like these too. Especially The Knob, everyone should listen to the new demo for their upcoming album, melodic and very up-beat, simply awesome. Start listening straight from here. (http://www.mikseri.net/player/player.php?newsession=1&type=1&parameter=309910)

I'd rate The Knob as the best Finnish band in my opinion.
