I've said a lot about bad lyrics, I know.

And though I listen to this song and like it sonically...

Holy shit, holy shit, holy holy holy fucking shit. Holy oh goddamn, GOD FUCKING DAMN, WHAT THE FUCK (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/To-Be-Loved-lyrics-Papa-Roach/18D2DA4832DE2784482571C7004688E0)?!

Oh holy goddamn who the fuck writes this shit...who can write such horrible lyrics and actually show them to someone? At least without fucking killing themselves?

Oh, and save any claims that "Papa Roach is actually pretty good" or whatever. I know, I know, that's exactly why I have four of their songs on my computer and don't kill friends who listen to any of their albums in my presence. But don't tell me they can write a song. They can't. Everything they've ever written is complete and utter trash (I've done the research); I just happened to pick the worst of the bunch.

Wow. I think they managed to fit in every single cliché phrase in the English language.

I was trying to think of a song by them that doesn't have crappy lyrics, but...I can't. Maybe Singular Indestructible Droid, because it's about robots.

But seriously, what were they thinking when they wrote that song?

I wanna see you scream and shout.

I like plenty of songs with bad lyrics, but this is a whole 'nother category.

Is this song gonna be a new BBS in-joke? I think Against Me could use a successor.

I still don't think it tops Pat Monahan (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/p/pat_monahan/her_eyes.html).

Without hearing the song I can't see it...

woah! I never realized that the lyrics were so bad. I agree that I don't absolutley hate this band, but "Put your pedal to the metal" should never be used in a song unless we're talking hair bands.

It does. It tops that.

They actually used the phrase "Party On"? What the hell is this, Wayne's World?

I'll be frank (can I still be Garth?), those lyrics are terrible.

Like, holy shit. "That’s the deal; you get no respect / You’re gonna get charged / You better watch your fucking neck" Are you serious? Like, I tend to be embarrassed over the lyrics I write for my "band," but this shit is actually offensive to me. They make MONEY off this.

Yeah, those lyrics are pretty darn terrible.

i still hold that this (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/strait-george/honk-if-you-honky-tonk-2979.html) is the song with the singularly worst lyrics in existence.

Those are bad, but not enough clichés!

Guys, I think we're all forgetting a true gem (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Up-The-Punx-lyrics-Casualties/80EBEFA6EEFB2EF448256CF40008B7F5) of modern day poetry.

Pat Monahan's lyrics aren't bad, they're just pretty generic. Plus, he's got a kickass voice to make up for it.

Papa Roach, on the other hand... those lyrics are just downright awful. I know that song, and probably liked at some point... never realized how bad the lyrics are.

I haven't listened to the album in years, but I always thought the "lovehatetragedy" album had some good lyrics. I'll try to find some. This is the best I could find right now. And it's probably only tolerable because it barely has any lyrics, haha. http://artists.letssingit.com/papa-roach-lyrics-walking-through-barbed-wire-75f7xw1

edit: I always kind of liked the lyrics to this song (http://artists.letssingit.com/papa-roach-lyrics-blood-vhq22lw). He really really loves the cliches, though.

Yeah! I actually heard the song, like, in commercials and shit. And it was only clips and stuff, and I thought "hmm, that sounds like some decent high energy fun", so I downloaded it. Then I listened to the verses and just went "HOLY SHIT"

You have to understand. I listen to synthpop and Italo songs by Italian, Swedish, and German artists who can't even conjugate verbs in English. And I'm STILL fuckin' blown away by how bad Papa Roach's lyrics are, especially in this song.

And only in comparison to their other songs...'cause that was pretty bad too. But it looks fuckin' GENIUS compared to "To Be Loved".

I always loved the song "She Loves Me Not", but that song has incredibly shitty lyrics as well.

Even though I know JN is the only one who agrees with me, Incubus lyrics hold a special place in my heart for the overall badness of them.

The badness of the Papa Roach lyrics really didn't surprise me, even though they were awful. Even when I was an 11 year old nu metal fan, I knew Papa Roach's lyrics were bad. And this is when I thought Korn really spoke to me.

And I maintain that this (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/lfo/summergirls.html) one is the worst.

Rick, I think this is a serious contender.

I've still never heard a band with lyrics as overall terrible as Switchfoot. It's not just because they're Christian, it's just that they're so fucking pompous, ponderous, and obnoxious, yet full of cliches. I'm sure there are bands out there with dumber lyrics, but no one does as good a job at pissing me off with their lyrics as Switchfoot, who like to write lines that begin with "I've been thinking about..." so we can follow his deep philosophical thought process, use the word "entropy" in every other song, and constantly include cliche metaphors about the sun, stars, and oceans.

Read the lyrics on this page and see if they don't make you want to kill something: http://learning2breathe.homestead.com/nis.html

I like some of Incubus's lyrics, but when they're bad, they're just downright terrible. All their singles have awful lyrics, and all the songs off "Morning View" and most off "Make Yourself" minus a few. But they're nowhere near as bad as Papa Roach.

I like the lyrics to several Switchfoot songs. Their singles also have terrible lyrics like Incubus, and this song (http://artists.letssingit.com/switchfoot-lyrics-adding-to-the-noise-5133dn4) and this song (http://artists.letssingit.com/switchfoot-lyrics-ammunition-1ktw2ks) have horrendous lyrics.
However, I love that one (http://artists.letssingit.com/switchfoot-lyrics-the-beautiful-letdown-82ffhl3) and several others. It's probably more associated with the music and not the lyrics, though.

Incubus lyrics hold a special place in my heart because they're my favorite type of bad lyrics: you know that the guy who wrote them thinks he's being profound and deep, but he just sounds like a retard who's looking in a thesarus or dictionary to find words that he thinks will impress people, which is why he uses them in the wrong context or pronunciation a good 95% of the time.

Papa Roach may use a buttload of lame cliches and may try too hard to be emotional and badass at the same time, but that kind of bad lyric doesn't really do much for me since I listened to crap like Slipknot and stuff for about 3 years. It's like violence. I'm used to it so it just doesn't shock me anymore.
