Bullshit. Eddie Trunk has been the guy who reported it being done and ready to be released for the past like 5 years. He's basically made his entire career on announcing that Chinese Democracy is done.

This isn't the first time I've read something like this, I'm not really going to believe this kind of thing till I actually see it in a shop.

Exactly, that's generally been how I've looked at it for a while now. The fact that it's being held up (or, at least that's what they're saying) by the label does make sense though. CD's obviously aren't selling the way they used to, and there's no way they'll make more profits than losses on this due to the gigantic amount of money spent on it.

I actually do want to see it released, though, if only to see the press bash the fuck out of it. That should be amusing.

I was going to post in this thread, until I seen that Jakebert said pretty much exactly what I was going to.

I'll believe it when I see it at Cheapo or Electric Fetus.

if it ever does come out it will never be as good as people would have thought it would be. thats what happens when you wait ten years :|

People have been saying its 10 years for like the past 5, it's closer to 15 years by now.

I don't think anyone is genuinely expecting this album to be good anymore.

People will probably buy it, most likely for comic value though.

I don't see it selling a lot of copies. I'm sure a lot of the more curious people will just download it, since most people are aware that it's going to be awful.

I think it will be a good album.

It'll probably be good, but nowhere near what everyone wants it to be, after 15 years of waiting. I can definitely see it as a bit more than mediocre.

PFFFFFFFFFFF... I hope to see it before another actor dies

that article is bullshit. the label wouldnt be dumb enough to think it wouldnt be profitable. obviously not as many people buy cds anymore but it would still sell plenty of copies. its guns and roses for fucks sake, they wouldnt try to sell it off to another label.

Yeah, but "Chinese Democracy" is the most expensive album ever produced. The label actually making a profit on it by releasing it is highly unlikely at this point. In fact, just today I read a story about the highest selling album of 2007 not making nearly as much money as most "top selling" albums have in the past. The music industry is incredibly strange today, and making a profit on an album that cost an obscene amount of money to produce won't happen anymore.

I'm shocked anyone still cares at this point.

I'm shocked anyone EVER cared; the last good cd put out by ANY members of Guns n Roses was their first in 1991. Everything after that was shit, Velvet Revolver is mediocre, and this album will be shit.

Pass.

I've never got that mindset at all. Use Your Illusion albums obviously weren't as great as AfD, there was some flat out terrible songs on there, but to say it was all worthless post AfD is just wrong, I get the feeling half the people that say it haven't heard anything other than the first album. Not that I'm accusing anyone in particular, I just find it hard to understand the mindset.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it's mainly out of curiosity. I want to know what album could possibly take 10 years to make.
