Ok, i just bought one on amazon and i have a question. Is it true that you don't need a mod chip to play bootleged games? Because i read on a bunch of websites that you don't. And if not do you need a boot disc or anything?

I don't think you need it to be modded, but I could be wrong. I just wanna say that the system is fucking awesome and very underrated.

I liked the Saturn better, but damn was it ever an unfortunate buy.

True on both accounts. I think when they first started bootlegging games you needed a mod chip, but then they figured out a way to make it so it'll read burned games without one.

Don't even get me started on the Saturn.

Btw, I have one in decent conditon that I got recently if anyone's willing to buy. I love it, but my brother bought one, and it makes no sense for both of us to have the same system.

I have a Sega Saturn on my floor for some reason. I also bought the Sega Dreamcast when it came out.

I'm thinking of buying the Super Nintendo. Is that a good buy, or should I just use emulators? I've NEVER played Super Mario Bros. 3, Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Contra, Metroid and Earthbound, and I reallllyyyy want to play them.

Yeah, you should be able to get a super nintendo for under 10 bucks and the games are really cheap becuase it's so old.

I still love Sega Genesis, and I really liked Saturn. I never had a Saturn, but my brother did. I never got to play dreamcast outside of the store, but I remember hating the controller. But it is a shame Sega died out, because they really did make great systems.

True, but getting physical copies of those games will be surprisingly expensive. I remember they had used copies at funcoland for like $60 well into the N64's life. An emulator would be the best bet for some of them.

Emulator for tying them out, buying for awesomeness.

It's Ecco, not Echo! And that was a Genesis game first, and quite a successful one...though I don't know why. Bleh.

I remember loving the Genesis when it was new. I played it again, and bleeeeeeccccch, it does not stand the test of time. Doesn't help that every single game that was not an exclusive was a million times better on the other systems they were released on.

The Sonic series and Sunset Riders, both exclusives (well sonic was until recently), kicked major ass. And that was all I really needed to be sold on the Genesis.

Sunset Riders was on the SNES.

oh yeah I remember now. The SNES version was all PC. No killing indians, no indians with bad racist grammar, and no female bad guys :( OH and the bar wenches were more PC by having more clothes on, and the cowboys don't get drunk when they come outta the bar with their wenches. The best part of Sunset Riders was how obscenely offensive it was. SNES ruined it. :(
