View Full Version : Building a pokerstars bankroll from 50 bucks to 1000

TBD
01-28-2008, 07:22 PM
I am going to challenge myself to build a Pokerstars bankroll from 50 bucks to 1000 bucks. I usually cash in 50 then lose it all playing a limit too high for the amount of money I put in. But I am going to slowly attempt to build it up playing .05/.10 no limit or .10/.25 no limit. If I can succeed I will be very proud of myself. I am posting this here so I don't tilt and move up limits and blow all my money when I am running bad, and have a reason to keep it up.

I think I can do it within one month.

1/27: Deposited 50
1/28: 135
1/29: 175
1/30: 217
1/31: 74
2/1: 96 (I WAS DOWN TO 27 bucks during this day because of huge tilt and not following my plan and playing higher limits)
2/2: 267
2/3: 433 (high was 438)
I will update every night with my success or lack thereof. I was down to 98 midday but grinded it back up to my current 131.
2/4: 702
2/5: 450
2/6: 540
2/7: 802 (Now: 878)
2/8: 1037 kfdjslkfjdkslfjdkslfjdsf success
2/17: 1483
2/18: 1607
Anyone else have a large online pokersite bankroll that they grinded up?

I don't play this stuff.

But my stepdad plays on this site called Cake Poker constantly. Like three to four hours a day. They have these free games where the winner makes a dollar. He started with that. He made it to 5000. He used it to pay for his honeymoon.

Fucking ridiculous.

I've heard a lot of good things about Cake Poker in terms of the lack of quality of the opponents. What limits does your dad play? That is pretty impressive what he accomplished.

I did 50 buck deposit down to like 2-3 bucks up to 2000 last year, but I donked off like 700 of that and cashed out the rest and haven't seen that kind of success since.

Never played online poker before, don't even know what that means.

All I know is I think it's ridiculous. That's the only word that I can think of it fit what I'm trying to say.

i used to play on BoDog with a bunch of guys from work. but we would only put in $20 and play like .05/.10 games. i never made a huge amount and haven't played in months. i still have like $25 in my account or something.

cake poker sounds interesting though. hm.

Can Americans even still even play on Bodog? I'm at 183 bucks right now but haven't played much today. I CAN DO IT! I hope.

I have no idea. I keep getting emails that I still have money in my account, but I don't ever even try to play, so. *shrug*

TBD
01-29-2008, 09:39 PM
You can use your Bodog money to sports bet too, which is really fun.

edit: Ran really well tonight after a bad start and got up to 217 bucks.

So yeah, ten bucks says you reach zero before 1,000.

02-01-2008, 09:11 PM
I have a real large tilt factor so you're probably right, but if I stay at the low limits I mentioned, I could do it. I got back over to 200 for a bit. But down to 170ish.

woot 244 baby. was playing very well today. I can't believe I went from 27 bucks yesterday to 244 today playing 5/10 cent blind no limit.

I really want to get into this. Is PokerStars your favorite poker site?

TBD
02-02-2008, 02:37 AM
By far. It's really reliable and I just like the software and rarely have any problems with it. I 4-5 table on my laptop with it and it works really well. The lower level games are soft if you're an aggressive solid player. Not as bad as in casinos but they are easily a steady profit if you can be patient making small gains playing them.

Stars also has a TON of tournament options at all times in the day, and has a good rakeback service with cool items and stuff you can get with the points. If you play often enough you can get goldstar and free entry into their monthly 100K tournament.

I was drunk one day and took my entire bankroll of 400 bucks to play Moneymaker heads up in 30/60 limit. I two outed him and doubled up on my second hand then left the table.

I'm 4/10ths of the way there, my bankroll has finally reached 400. 421 bucks to be exact. Won 19 bucks during the typing of this post.

I need a social life. This has been my Saturday night.

I don't like the person I am when I'm playing a lot. I don't get tired. I don't get hungry. I just get angry when I lose, and not that happy when I win.

I had 27 bucks two days ago and turned it into 433 right now, and I'm just satisfied. Not happy.

Hopefully 1,000 is coming.

So I played poker today with the guys, physically. There were six of us, $20 buy in. Everybody rebought once or twice except for me so the total pot was $240. I managed to hang on though, and was mid- to short-stacked the whole game until the end, and then an excruciatingly long (well, in relative terms) round of head-to-head followed before I finally took first place. 70% of the pot for $168. So $148 winnings. Pretty sweet. I was the only one completely sober so that may have been a contributing factor, and obviously the luck helps.

I feel like the online poker addiction may be almost as bad as WOW.

OK calling failure was immature. I cashed out 400 and left 50 in, after I was down approximately 290 bucks yesterday. But I have managed to build that 50 back up to 226 bucks.

So in total:

Well I just lost like 330 bucks to go back down to 700. Took a shot at higher limits to try to make some big money and got owned.

Cashed out most of my money. For a 600 buck check coming to me, have a like 108 left in my account.

The moral of this story is don't get greedy.

Yeah, I guess it was worth taking a shot to try to make big money, if I succeeded I could have made another 300 or so dollars but instead I lost it.

The competition gets MUCH MUCH MUCH tougher going up a few levels. The quality difference is quite ridiculous.

I still feel shitty over the lost money though.

However, I would not have paid him if I went broke. Does that not make it an acceptance?

I cashed out 300 more. So I have cashed out 1300 total.

Have 320 left in account.

1620 total. Was at 1607 earlier today, went down to 1450ish, and climbed back up.

1744 baby. Same deposit, I just didn't play for a few months.

After I cashed out that 1300, I went from the 320 mentioned above to 25 for a while, so I didn't play for a few months. But I got that 25 back up to 444 right now in two days of play.
