ah! sweet, sweet 90's!

Right now I'm listening to a radio show called "90's at noon" (http://www.91x.com), and now I feel SO nostalgic!
I LOVE the music they're playing, and it came to my mind the obvious thought: Oh, my God... I was a teen in the 90's!
Those years that can define many matters of someone's life. In MY case, like many of yours [i'm sure], defined my preferences towards music.

any thoughts coming to your mind about the 90's?

It's the decade that made me the man I am today: A caffeine dependent, overweight, lazy, TV addict.

The 90's? Wasn't that the time when Mr T stopped being cool?

The 90s were definitely ‘my decade’. I love the music, from grunge, and brit-pop, to punk revival, and 3rd wave ska, especially the defining 90s albums like Nevermind, Dookie, Smash, Lets Face It, etc. Not to mention those quirky 90s films like “Reality Bites” and “Clerks”.

Plus, lets not even get into stuff like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,Bananas in Pajamas, and Sonic cartoons....

P.S. anyone else watch that recent Simpson’s episode that was full of 90s references? It put me in such a nostalgic mood…

The 1990s: Also known as My Awkward Teen Years. I have a love-hate relationship with the 1990s. I hated my junior-high years and political-correctness took hold in a major way. But at the same time, I took up music and became serious about art. I also went from my boy-band stage to the inevitable rap stage before finally getting into punk at the age of 13.

OMFG, New Radicals! Malls! Bucket hats! Elevators!

I was born in the early 90's but I know quite a bit about the music from that era. I love listening to it. It reminds me of the late 90's when I first got into muzaks!

EDIT: Streaming 90's Radio! (http://www.vh1.com/music/radio/stations/i_love_the_90s/station.jhtml) <3 (Not actually a real radio station, just a looooong playlist of 90's songs!)

Excluding some cartoons, and music from the late 90's.

Aww, the 90s... the decade of bad music, horrible fashion and a loooot of misdirected teen angst.

Loves it.

I totally rock out when 90s music comes on. especially when it's really bad. \m/

Not overly dissimilar to the 80's if you think about it. Just less day-glo.

Yeah, and the 90 generation, despite they didn't enjoy the technology of our days - wifi (L) -, they seemed to be much more lively...

I didn't hate the fashion much. i was quite happy because 80's fashion died.
And I find 90 - 97 music nice. It didn't suck.

Yeah, but her public meltdowns, shoplifting of cheap crap, and late-night shopping sprees being in a lot of money!

to each their own.
however, 80s fashion is back with a vengeance. unfortunately. i never wanted to see lace-trimmed leggings, high-waisted pants, padded shoulder jackets and neon fringy getups again.

The 90's are brilliant music-wise for me.

I was very much into my pop and dance music at that point, and I love to listen to all the music I remember from then.

I used to listen to pop only when a was a little kid (80's), but in the 90's I turned to rock, punk, and alternative.

Gigantic earrings? They're not all that gone you know.

I saw a girl outside the cathedral today, and she had these massive heart versions of hoop earrings. All fake gold and tackiness

yeah... but modern giga-earrings don't weight as much as 80's ones!

hmm.. you're 16.. guess you didn't get to weight those :P trust me: they were heavy

Meg

Which just adds to the tackiness of the false gold thing.

Generally when I think of 90's fashion I just think of bootleg jeans and big baggy shirt/T-shirts

I think I should've been born two decades earlier. Because I miss the 90's, but I wish I could have thoroughly enjoyed them, because I was only 8 when '99 ended. And I wish I could have experienced the 80's.

But I guess I did get to enjoy the Spice Girls and Hanson, at least.

[on a side note, I haven't posted for over 5 months. wow.]

Also I don't get how the 90's can be called an era. '95 and onwards isn't much different from now.

Ahh the 90's

* Decade I had my first (fucked-up) boyfriend.
* Used to go out a lot and dance the kind of songs Strider mentioned. Weird fact: Wearing my Dookie T-shirt (WTF?).
* MTV was at its best.
* Decade that determined what I would listen for life...

Fashion-wise I think I had never paid attention at that time as well as the 80's. After all some of us were children and didn't have the time to think about it. I used to pay more attention to my dolls' clothes. But fortunately we can all laugh at that. People really screwed up theis looks at the 80's.\

And yes, I played with dollies until I heard "Basket Case" on the radio (I was only 13)... That day changed my life and I found out I wasn't a kid anymore.
