This thread is blasphemous... silly overuse of letters in words normally containing fewer of said letters, e.g. the above post, will not be tolerated when talking about, or at the almighty Queens of the Stone Age.

You do not make fun of, or at the almighty Queens of the Stone Age.

Amen.

You may now continue a very sober and thoughtful conversation about how they rock, without criticizing any aspect of them whatsoever.

Proceed.

Really? you think their self-titled is the worst?

Shocking.

the only way to grade QOTSA records is like this:

1- Songs for the Deaf
2- Tied in second place - QOTSA/RATED/Lullabies/Era

all their albums are amazing...but Songs is a damn masterpiece.

It's true there's some pretty epic stuff on Songs (No One Knows and Go With the Flow, anyone?), and I'm also completely in love with the whole radiothing they did there, but you have to give credit to their self-titled. probably the best album no one ever heard.

I would call Rated their weakest album, but calling it weak or even average would be extremely underestimating it.

Greatest live performance ever!!!

that´s a great performance.

but my favorite is them playing "No One Knows" at Reading back in 05.

the extended solo at the middle of the song is amazing.

Yeah, I love those extended bits they perform every once in a while.

They played this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=wnVugkkTxIo) version of You Can't Quit Me, Baby when I saw them in Copenhagen, and it was one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

I do like this band, although I only have their last three albums: Songs for the Deaf, Lullabies to Paralyze and Era Vulgaris.

do you have the unnoficial B-sides compilation "Monsters of the Parasol" there´s some great stuff on there.

I've got a bunch of rarities, but I've never heard of that compilation before...

Seriously, QOTSA's got some sick B-Sides. The Bronze, Born to Hula and Infinity, to name a few, are equally as good as their A-Sides

Right now i'm blasting Songs For The Deaf after quite a while (since the release i've been listening almost excusively RAFRAG). Damn, this is one of my all time favorite records, not a single bad song on it. I miss Oliveri's influence in their sound in the later two albums, although they are not bad.

Praise the mighty QOTSA!

I saw a live recording of no one knows and Josh sang a very nice variation during the first verse:

"We get these pills to swallow
That and this
These and those
No one knows

We get some rules to follow
How they stick
In your throat
Tastes like gold"
