Similar to weeks ago's thread (http://www.offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31961) about how many times the new record will contain the word "fuck", it says so on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018OAPAW?tag=pauplathemuss-20&creative=373489&camp=211189&link_code=as3&creativeASIN=B0018OAPAW) that Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace will have explicit language, lyrics, content, you name it.

I wish it was like the old days though, where you could scream FUCK multiple times at the beginning of an album and not get a stupid sticker. :p

You can still do that if you're not on a major label.

I understand the logic behind rating an album, but I don't agree with it being black and white; either explicit or not. Movies have ratings, so I think CDs should, too. But it needs to be more thought out than... explicit sticker, or not.

I can't believe there is a conversation about a sticker.

I'm surprised to hear this. Well, not surprised, since we know that "fuck" is a major part of at least two songs' lyrics. I'm more relieved.

Amazon once listed the opening track on the greatest hits album as "Can't Sleep", even for a while after it was released.

I'm taking this with a grain of salt (the amazon page doesn't even include the confirmed track listing).

The stickers aren't mandatory like an MPAA rating for a movie released in theaters.
the "explict content" sticker is a "voluntary" act by record labels to show parents they aren't trying to destroy their child's minds with their filthy albums.
it happened in the mid-90's, I think after "cop killer" came out? my history is a little rusty, but thats when the sticker came about. parents and those "lets keep america squeaky clean and boring" groups were up in arms about kids being exposed to these albums. so the labels came up with the sticker.

The pathetic thing about this is that record labels don't even think of the message of the lyrics. They just say "Fuck is soo bad" and don't care at all about the subject of the song. So with this sticke, The Offspring is compared with other Artists that use the language in a totally different way. But who cares. This sticker isn't gonna do shit. No one is not going to buy the album cause of the sticker.

I can't really say the Offspring have ever used curses in an artistic way...I'm not even sure there is a good reason to use it besides sounding like a badass.

"Don't blame me I just work here but I wanna fuck it up."

I agree though, a sticker doesn't stop people from buying them. Are there even any laws or regulations prohibiting minors from buying CDs with an explicit sticker?

Wow, best tag ever.

Also, lack of Dutch censoring laws ftw.

I always thought Dexter said "don't blame me, I just work here, but I wanna FUCK YOU!" at that part lol.

Good. Last thing the music business needs is another band holding back and doing what is asked of them.

Yeah, I don't really see what the big deal is. Every Offspring album has the word fuck in it somewhere. Why should we expect this to be any different?

And before some genius tries to remind me than Conspiracy of One was fuck-free, remember Huck it. Still counts.

EDIT: Obang is like my favorite poster for some reason.
