While this is my first post on The Offspring's forum's, I've been a fan of the band for many years. Next year (2009) will be the 20th Anniversary of the release of their first album.

I, personally, would like to see some form of re-release to mark this occasion. I know the album has already been re-released once, but for the 20th anniversary of their first (and possibly one of their best, in my honest opinion) albums, I would like to see a digitally remastered, preferably re-recorded (I think they could do the songs far more justice with current recording techonology & the simple fact that they have come along so far since then) version of "The Offspring" hit the shelves in 2009.

Who's with me?

I'm not. A remastered version might be cool, but rerecorded?

But the reissue was already remastered. Never-ending remastering can make the songs sound too unnatural.

It was? I never knew...

Well, if that's true I'm with the others, perhaps they could re-record Blackball/I'll Be Waiting.

I would rather have a live CD with all the tracks. That could be awesome.

It surely was, during its analogue-to-digital conversion.

when beheaded 99 came out, i thought it was the best shit ever. but quickly realised that the original was better, and i assume this would be the case with the rest of the songs.

well, in my opinion the album is good as it is. I think re-recording and remastering would just ruin the beauty of it.

I agree with chain saw. Alright say you have a REALY nice 69 Camaro it runs perfectly the interior color goes perfectly with the exterior color ok.
now imagine dumping S*** brown paint all over it and kicking in the winsheild. That is in my opinion what it'd be kinda like if you rerecorded thier first album

Or it's like producing a brand new camaro based on the specs from 1969. One of those.

My opinion is if it ain't broke don't fix it. The album is just fine the way it is. I'm listening to it now and it's great. :)

I think a small club show of somesort where they play the album in full + release the videos on the internet would be a great idea. It'll probably never happen but a girl can dream.

That would be pretty cool. I'd enjoy that.

No, it wasn't. No remastering on the 1995 re-issue.

THEY R BRINGIN OUT RE-MASTERED VERSIONS OF IGNITION N SMASH.IGNITION WAS MY FAVOURITE ALBUM, SO I REALLY WANNA C WAT ITS LIKE RE-MASTERED. THEY SHULD DO A LIVE ALBUM, BUT IF THEY RE-RECORDED THE 1ST 1 IT'D BE WEIRD.

No, it wasn't. No remastering on the 1995 re-issue.

Every analogue-to-digital conversion process involves, more or less, digital (re)mastering. There can be NO exact digital copy of what was recorded in analogue form.

I am with you. They can try to re-record it without ruining the beauty, although I think that a remastered version would also be adequate. What they should do is playing more of the old songs live for the anniversary.

A live version of the album sounds like the coolest idea so far. Maybe if they did it accoustically then they could do something completely original with it.

They should do a super-collection-kit for when they finally end this chapter.

Yes, it was released once again, in 2001 without Kill the President.
