why do you fight it so hard? say there was the album leak coming out TODAY... go download it and listen to it. you can buy the album anyways lateron. the band wont hate you or anything for it !!! they dont know you. actually you will love the shit outta those songs, which is what the bands want from their fans.

why resist? why not get an advance-listening of the songs before buying the cd?

It is not cause of the band. But when u have booklet and everything, and you put the cd in your player, the feeling is much more intense than when listening to a internet leak. I am not saying I will resist it for 100%, though.

i am sure you also get the feeling when opening the file, 12 mp3s in it. then finally hearing the first sounds.

i remember hearing the "Plus 44" leak for the first time (first song i listened to: LILLIAN if anybody knows it) ... i had goosebumps for 4 straight minutes. god i wish i had the feeling more often. its like a prolonged, sustained sequence of pure orgasm minus the jizz.

same thing with angels and airwaves. it just gave me the chills.

no booklook though. well fuck the booklet.

If I may rank the new songs so far:

Hammerhead 10/10
You Gonna Go Far Kid 9,5/10
Half-Truism 9/10
Trust In You sounds also really promising.I think it will be at least 9/10,too.

I really like them all,at least one quarter of RAFRAG is awesome.
If the other songs can match the quality,it is really the best record since Ixnay. But we´ll see about that in less than a month.

Catchy stuff. Given the songs we've heard so far, this smells like second single material. There could be catchier stuff on the album though. I like it a lot.

I also think it isn't the whole thing, it sounds a little choppy in some parts and wasn't the studio version of this song to be 3 minutes long? Like 2:57 or something? I don't remember seeing a song listed as being that short on this album.

Jesus
05-17-2008, 08:42 AM
Holy shit even with this quality it sound great. It's ridiculously catchy. And that intro and when it goes back to that punkrockish dance-ish vibe (which I like being Belgian Eurotrash) Dexter's voice sounds amazing, the best I have heard him in a long time. I had expected the song to be more like that Against Me! song but it's totallly different. Thumbs Up.

I totally think that it would sound like a Muse song if the Muse played it, but the Offspring definitely took it their own direction. But I could agree that if you had to compare the song to another band, it's kinda Muse-like... only WAY better.

Why it always compare the new songs with other bands?
Because that's called classification. It's a normal thing to do.

EDIT: This song rocks. It's totally catchy without being stupid or silly. I could see this being a single, though Half Truism could make the cut, too. But seriously, I love all three songs I've heard from the new album. I feel far too sure that this will be their best album since Ixnay, if not their best ever.

Oh, and I'm starting to get a little more excited now after hearing this. :) And speaking of that thread I made, I feel very dirty for having supported soxic... what a fucking douche. :-/

True. But the studio version will sound even better. I didn't really like Hammerhead from the live video on Youtube because of the shitty quality. And with "...Kid" it's almost the same, although I do hear the catchyness (and like it)

It's like, oh my god, it rocks! I thought that it would be a piece of shit (though Offspring never made a song that sucked, except Hit That, Prankster and When You're in Prison) when soxicmusic wrote the lyrics, but it's way much different as I thought it would be. But seriously, I love all three songs I've heard from the new album. I feel far too sure that this will be their best album since Ixnay, if not their best ever.

My feelings exactly; it shows the band is fully capable of making a catchy track without making Original Prankster Pt 2. I got fucking goosebumps when this started playing. I know its shitty quality, but i suspect this may be one of my favorite tracks on the album, especially since i'm such a sucker for "dance punk". I also said i wasn't going to listen to any more stuff off the album, but since i heard interesting descriptions of this track, i'd thought i'd check it out; the "dance fucker dance" part is so intense. Also, lamas, its nice to see you've got your enthusiasm back.

BTW i'm pretty sure i was the first person to make an Against Me!/Stop comparison (despite not even hearing the song), so someone owes me a coke.

I've been thinking since the release of Splinter... that Splinter was their first step in experimentation (and kind of a failure on most parts, IMO)... and that this album would be the real experimental album that would kick everyone's ass. Things are pointing toward me being right. :)

It's amazing. Of all four songs we've heard so far, I've liked the verses more than the choruses. That's supposed to be hard to do, but they've done it. This song is great.

Speaking of "all four songs we've heard so far," the same chord progression has appeared in each one (not the melody, whoever said that). As long as they do something different with it, though, I don't mind.

When I heard it the first time (the shitty quality), I didn't like it.
It sounded too much TKAA part 3.
But yesterday (today, anyway), when I saw it at the webcast: Awesome!
Classic Offspring-stuff, but better.

'Dance fucker dance!'
If this can't be a hit, nothing can.

Conclussion: there are back!
I feel the fuzz is growing simulary to the Americana-days.

Is just me or this song is nothing like a "joke song"?

When i first heard the title and the reviews i thought so, but now hearing to it i think it has some good lyrics.

The "dance fucker dance" line is I guess not to dance exactly, but more like "die fucker die" because of the "hit him right between the eyes" line.
Your thoughts?

Great overall song. Goosebumps is the word.

Yea that was the impression I got, like somebody shooting a gun at the ground around a guy's feet and saying 'dance fucker dance', but maybe that's just my interpretation.

I hope you're right. Americana was my first rock record. I had not heard Pretty Fly, nor had I known The Offspring before I heard the words "Welcome to Americana. Please make your selection...". A friend of mine bought the CD, we listened to it the whole weekend and on monday I ran to the record store and started to listen to rock music.
So if this record feels like Americana, it will be one of my allt time favourites.

@Topic: The verse is really brilliant, but I also like the change between the slow pre-Chorus(?) and the fast chorus.

Now, after hearing this song a few more times, all I have to say is Dexter is a genius. First, the very Offspring-like songs, which he's pretty much got down to a science, then "Tokyo, I'm On My Way," now this...

KKK is short for Ku Klux Klan. That was some kind of organisation founded by a couple of white people after the American civil war. They wore strange white clothes and masks, lynched black people and put burning crosses in front of their houses.

Hey, I described the KKK without using the word "racist"!

Ah yes, because I'm a bigot. I just found it interesting because the bass was black and it was covered in white K's. Actually, they'd hate me too because I'm Italian and Catholic. That wouldn't go over well with them.

My point wasn't to say that he's racist or anything, I just thought there was a little humor in it. I never should have said anything, with all the bitching that goes on around here. Bad call.

I was saying it tongue-in-cheek, since you never came off as a racist, and because you said the bass was "almost racist." A similar accusation, with the same amount of sincerity [none] which we both found humorous to ourselves. But I should have known better with how defensive people get around here. Bad call.
