i think they should come out with an acoustic album. bands like pearl jam, nirvana have one and the offspring need to. songs should include

1. dirty magic
2. defy you
3. self esteem
4. gone away
5. the kids aren't alright
and like 7 more songs

I stumbled upon this:
http://www.offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22469
But that was some time ago when it was discussed, so I dunno.
They should do an acoustic album sometimes, that would be kickass. But now it is RAFRAG time!:D

NUH

id like to hear the entire ignition album (sans session or lapd) in acoustic form. or maybe played in a surf style. i can hear a bunch of that in there. epic.

i think they ought to have three 'b-side' type albums

1. actual b-sides like 'pass me by'
2. an acoustic album like you say
3. and a 'covers' album of all the covers they've done

that would be awesome

I love the idea of an Offsping acoustic album, and see no real reason why they shouldn't put one out. Although at this point, i'd rather have a rarities album with a couple acoustic versions on it.

No, man! The Offspring should stick with what they do best! Maybe 1 or 2 acoustic songs on the next album after rfrg (you know there will be one!) but not an entire album like that!

Maybe they will do one in their sixties, when they will be too tired:p

EDIT: 666th post! :D

Why not :D

Why not do what the Foo Fighters did and release an acoustic album along with a rock album. That'd be cool.

Nah, I say they should do a Live album if anything.

If they made an acoustic album, this should be the tracklist:

1. Self-Esteem
2. Nitro (slower version)
3. Kick Him When He's Down
4. I'll be Waiting
5. All I Want
6. Have You Ever
7. Million Miles Away
8. Spare Me The Details
9. No Hero
10. The Meaning Of Life (Maybe like a surf version)
11. We Are One
12. Da Hui (would be funny)

An acoustic album would rock, but maybe released as a bonus disc on a double album since it might not sell so well on its own.

Of course they should release an acoustic album or one but with covers and b-sides.

The question is, they read these forums? The moderators tell them what we say here? I mean, a lot of times I have seen great ideas like these about what we want Offspring will do but if they dont read these forums or dont know about we want it doesnt make any sense to discuss about it

Again, I wanna know, they read what we write here?

Yes, we know the band does, at least on occasion view the forums, as they have alluded to it in journal entries

Excelent...

So Dexter, Noodles, Greg, Pete, think about a B-sides & covers album, or an acoustic one. It'll be fucking great

oh yaeh, i would love it!

I think they deserve an Unplugged album like all the other great bands.

Oh, and what the hell is a surf version? I really got no idea^^

surf is a style of music. ignition reeks of it.

I'm actually luke-warm to the idea of an acoustic album. Of course, it would mean 12 Offspring tracks that we never had before, which is great, but I think a lot of their songs are made only to be the way they are. I'd only love the idea if they were 1)new songs 2)acoustic covers of other bands' songs or 3) if they remade their own songs but did something different with them, such as solos when there were no solos in the original, different time signatures, etc.

No, it would be hideous. They should continue to record acoustics of various individual songs but a whole album? No.

I'd love to listen to some new acoustic songs from the band. But a whole album? I'd rather have a live album and a b-sides/rarities/acoustics album. That would be awesome...

I´m not a fan of that acoustic rocksong thing.

That would be something, but would also love a DVD - "The Offspring Live" :D

Yeah, they should really make some acoustic-stuff. I sent this message on Youtube earlier today:

"Hi!

I'm Ståle from Norway, and I'm a big fan. I got an idea about what you guys also could do. Songs like "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "Gone Away" has gone right in our hearts, and what about to make a new version of these songs? I think, acoustic, _slower_ version. It's not so "you" maybe, but it's just good too try some "new"? I think all Offspring fans would love it, and other people too, because these songs have a very good melody and, yeah. It's very good songs, so that would be great...

Answer me? Greetings from Ståle, Norway."

Why should they have an acoustic album?

Because it would sound nice, and they have many good songs to play as acoustic version? Many here would love it. ^^

Well, I'd actually perfer an "electric" (instead of "acoustic") live album or DVD. I'd like that.

They were actually thinking of making a live-album after americana. I remember reading that in a swedish magazine years ago.

Yeah, sure why the fuck not. I mean acoutics style songs are neatly greatly beautifully beyond my lack of vocabulary words.

Kids aren't alright
I want you bad
Denial, revisited
Can't repeat
Gone Away
All I want
Amazed
Gotta Get Away
Come out and Play
Self Esteem
Race Against Myself
Cant get my Head Around you

I think those twelve would be the Perfect Acoustic Album. Also If they could pull off songs like original Prankster, or Why don't you get a job, those would fit too, but i just can't see it happening with an acoustic version.

Guess it´d be cool, cause there some riffs on dual disc of Greatest hits and it really sounds different and nice. :D Especially songs like Self-esteem, Gotta get away or even the Kids... :D

That's a good idea, but I'm not sure which songs they should record. It's kinda hard to choose.
