This doesn’t really deserve it’s own thread, but I’m bored, and didn’t really see another place to post it. Sorry, don’t have a direct source, but Toronto’s 102.1 the Edge just had its RAFRAG world premier, and in-between tracks they played a recent interview that the station had with Dex and Noodles. And Noodles commented that the band plans on touring on and off for the next year (no surprise there), but also after a not too long break, plan to get back to the studio for the follow up to RAFRAG, so it seems as if we won’t have to wait another 5 years for a new record! Although we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves, as North Americans haven’t even been able to purchase RAFRAG yet.

Right on, the statment just struck me as promising cause it came straight from noodles. That being said let's all enjoy Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace for the next while to come :)

After Greatest Hits was released in 2005, Dexter said that he wanted to put out a new album in 2006. See how well that worked out?

This is excellent news! They are certainly going strong!

But for now, let us soak in the righteousness & epicnicity that is RAFRAG!!!

That's awesome news. :) I don't have high expectations for this actually happening, and I won't be let down if they don't do it... but it's really awesome to know that they're motivated to keep going, and that this is a possibility. :) I'd LOVE to hear an Ixnay -> Americana progression here!

on which they will work 4 years in the studio ;)

Nah It'll probably be the same time difference as between Americana and Co1. But Ixnay and Americana would be nicer ;). Dexter did write around 25 songs for this album. So maybe if they rework the left overs it can be quicker.

They should call the next album Rage and Grace, Rise and Fall though. Just to make things complicated.

They should call it Chinese Democracy and release it in 2020. That would probably come close to Guns'n'Roses' release date:D

That's what i was thinking. Dex has often commented, how the band often goes back and re-works, or strips good parts from older demos to write new songs. When they have about 13 demos to work with already, it seems as if they'll have a solid start on their next album. But the main thing to take away from this is 1) the band is not going to be ending anytime soon and 2) the band is excited about recording.

Exactly...plus...if they include Pass Me By...that's 14! Something about the opening 45 seconds of that song on Youtube just excites me.

Thanks! Great interview again, I love it when interviewers actually know something of the band. Now we also know who Ivan is ;).

And Noodles loves amazed of ixnay (which is one of the best on the album), they should play it live again!

Well, every band stops playing eventually (well, the members die of age, if nothing else cause them to disband), that sthe sad truth...

...BUT there are many bands who play 30 and more years (even 40 and more), let's hope that The Offspring will be with us for long, long time :)

And even when they will disband, their music will stay and live on in our hearts... Damn, i sound like i'd be Churchill or something...:D

Yeah. Their music will be in our hearts. But hey, what the hell!? We're talking like it's soon over, and that's bullshit. They gonna rock in many, many years. They're just a bit over 40. ^^

Exactly. I think that any band should play untill they feel they like to play, not untill they reach some age.

Interesting. But i didn't think they would end it on RFRG. They HAD to do one more.
I hope though, for the last album, they don't try anything different like in RFRG, not saying that i don't like it, but they should make the last album soley an album for the fans. Im happy to see them branch out the way they did in rfrg but i think as a last album it has to be fast, with attutide and epic, like their final stand. If they made another Co1 styled album i would be happy. In my opinion co1 is one of the fastest albums along with smash and S/T, and is probably the most like smash. It has to reflect on their whole career, and remind us why the offspring are gods, although we all know they are.
No more poppy styled songs, even if they do help sell the album, just classic, fast, meaningful songs like No brakes / Genocide / All I Want / TKAA / Americana. doesn't have to be a long album, just another one, thats all.

Whatever they make i will love, as always, but thats just my preference.

This link doesn't work for me. Can anyone else get it to work?
I think the day The Offspring break up will be a sad day for lots of people - definitely for me. It has crossed my mind that they might not want to keep the band together much longer, but I hope that's not the case! If it is, well, I guess the fans would just have to show them how appreciated they are, and will be for years to come :)
