I read on Wikipedia that i debuted in Japan at #3 with 50,000 copies sold. So, did it not even dent the charts at all here in the U.S? You'd think that since Hammerhead reached #2 on the charts they'd have opened with like 100,000 here in the States.

Oh, well. I was hoping they'd get some more well-deserved coverage, but it's the ones who aren't getting it who're losing, not us. Thanks for another great album guys.

To be honest, if this one didn't do it, the next one probably won't either. They're my favorite band, so I get a little defensive when they had an album that went 6x platinum, and another that went 4 or 5x, and now people won't even give them the time of day. Meanwhile - although I hate to be the one to bring Green Day comparisons up - Green Day had a career revival, gets cameo roles in shit like the Simpsons movie, the Offspring are just as influential and get just as much credit for bringing punk rock into the mainstream as Green Day does.

Don't get me wrong, I know the Offspring are a punk band, and this won't be their first album that didn't receive well-deserved coverage, but it kind of baffles me at just how fickle the radio audience is. The real fans will buy their albums regardless, and their new singles will probably always get a chance just 'cause, but come on.

This one's shaping up to look like it won't even go Gold, let alone platinum.

The new album was 17th in top sellers on play.com but its down to 33rd now, still not bad though for a big site.

ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart = peak position 3
Japan = peak position 3
UK = peak position 39

So, let's see...sopmebody have real data regarding number of copies sold?

To be successful, how many copies do you think would have in this first week?
