NOT FOR THE US THOUGH :D

China is finally raising their gas prices to a reasonable amount that can help regulate prices by 10 cents around the world. 10 cents isn't too much but that's a significant amount.

A big problem is that public transport is also ridiculously expensive so you can't win!

Same here, you pay too much for season tickets here and in addition the transport company cutting services.
Gas price here is 1.45-1.50 euro.

I'm glad that I can walk to work atm, but I'm moving in a few weeks, and me and the bf are gonna have to drive a fair distance to get to work but public transport would be more expensive and is horribly unreliable....I can hear my wallet screaming already....

10 cents isn't going to be the same economically around the world... 10 cents more in the UK is going to be less hurtful than 10 cents in Hungary, for instance.

Also, 10 cents per litre is going to be more painful than 10 cents per gallon...

I hope an alternative to oil is found relatively soon... or I live somewhere/have a job where I don't need to drive.

Doubly agreed!!

It can cost me 20 pounds a week for train fare so I can get to College and work. Ridiculous!

The bus system here blows and I have to wait up to an hour every time I want to take one, even though I live in the city. We're encouraged to take the bus to cut on pollution, but we get really bad service. I'd like to keep taking the bus, and blackmail those gas companies, but it just isn't happening because there's no good alternative for traveling. The best would be an electric car, I would think, but that's basically MORE expensive than paying for a gasoline car so unless you're doing it to not pollute it doesn't really help you, especially in the financial department. Gas companies have the monopoly, and people don't really NEED them like food or shelter, but they still "need" cars or else their standard of living drops significantly.
