What a great fucking song. This thread was created because it seems to me Fix You is catching a lot of flak compared to the other pieces on RAFRAG. I feel this song is essential to the nature of the album, even for the sincerety in Dexter's affect alone. Thoughts?

I made a thread like this right after I got the album.
I loove Fix You so much. At first I didn't like it, but now it's one of my favorites.

Yep. I instantly liked Fix You. After thinking it would be the worst song on the album, it turned out to be my second favorite.

Merge action plz?

As I said in that thread, I friggin' adore the song and when I recommend people the album, I mention it along my other favourites. It's kind of rare that a song sort of tugs at my heart strings but I feel like in the right mood, this one REALLY does. Dexter does a great job in it, even if I don't think the "lalala" parts are all that fitting.

As it was said before, it's not the best song off the album or their best work ever, but I can see beauty in it. I've said a lot of times I wanted something different from the band, and I got it. I have never thought Dexter would go well with a slow song. I was proved wrong.

Just to say I hate it when I am right. I just got it on the brazilian boards. I know most of you don't read Portuguese but my fellow speakers can tell you I'm not wrong when I say people would like Fix You if this song was another band's. Can it be anymore ridiculous?

People have expectations. If I'm watching a porn movie I don't want any philosofical crap interrupting the action.

People pre-create ideas about something and then when this does not met their expectations they become angry.

Gotta love norrow minded people.

Fucking dicks. This is what's wrong with people today. They go into an album expecting it to sound a certain way, instead of just expecting it to be well-written, well-executed music.

Okay people have expectations but hey, if you would enjoy the song by another band, why can't you enjoy by the offspring?

This is something I cannot understand.

If you don't like the song, you don't like it period; regardless the band.

I've been totally lost these days..

If I have thoughts or some input I wish to share on these boards, I am not going to search for every single one to see if they have been previously addressed. Not everybody has the time to keep up with all the topics, or search for them as they become cognizant. If people feel something has been covered and it is done with, they need not reply. No biggie.

Quick story about Fix you.

At first I didn't like it too much personally, but then it stated to grow on me... But then people kept talking trash about it after the release it kind of put me down. One of those, "LOOL You listen to Fix You!? Noob!" type of a thing.

My father though, has been listening to me playing the CD over and over every single day, all day. He's asked me for 3 songs off of the CD for his iPod.

I even liked the name of the song when we knew just the names, expected something fast and powerful...but anyway, from the first time I heard it, I just love it...

"Fix You" rocks...The more I listen, the more I love. I'm a sucker for sad/soul searching songs, and this song brings so much of that out. Just listen to the lyrics...it's something everyone can relate to --- A relationship falling apart, and an ensuing desperate plea to fix" what's wrong...Plus, it's fits perfectly using the Rage and Grace line...

Dexter sings the song very well, pouring out the emotions which make so many slower Offspring songs so successful. It's well written, and well executed.

I would LOVE it if the guys revisit the acoustic bit with their set. Fix You or Kristy would be a great compliment to a Dirty Magic or Defy You, or even Denial, Revisited!

I read the lyrics, and i would agree that the lyrics are well written. As far as the song itself, it just doesn't seem to grow on me. I can't place my finger on what it is. i like the idea though

thats awesome.
i would be literally laughing my ass off if i heard my dad singing rehab and L-O-L. hahaha

fix you: i like the verses; "she wakes up, rage and grace, pulling my closer pushing away" i really like that bit. but the chorus' are a bit tacky. idk. its grown on me a lot since the release tho. when i first heard it i was like "wtf is this shit?" and i was extremely disappointed in the offspring. but now i dont mind it, i can live with it. and its good to see alot of other fans love it.

...I was talking about the user called The Search Button.

But seriously, you should poke around at least the first few pages of a forum to see if someone else is also sharing an opinion on any given topic that you're also looking to discuss. Otherwise, the community aspect of this whole thing doesn't really work. It'd be like sitting in a room talking to yourself about something, next to someone who is talking to themselves about the same thing. Why not talk to eachother instead?

ANYWAYS: fix you....I was like WTF when I first heard it...I was pretty upset and just kinda dissapointed that the offspring would put out such a seemingly lackluster song...but to be honest, its really grown on me...I love the verse lyrics, and the tone of dexters voice. It's one of my favorites now. :)

Its obvious that its a love song because of the giant heart. That usually would not refer to say your brother... And this song sounds like way too many other generic ballads. They're too good at alt punk to be playing overproduced slow songs
