Hi;

Basically what they did to remaster Ignition, that said:

- increasing the overall loudness by 3 dB;
- adding low frequencies;
- adding high frequencies;
- and also (guess they didn't do this) noise reduction.

I can do the same with the whole album if you like it, here's Jennifer Lost The War, so you can grasp the idea:

http://rapidshare.com/files/128378094/Jennifer_Lost_The_War_remastered_by_disclaimer_07. mp3

Enjoy and please tell me what you think! :P

EDIT:

Please go HERE (http://rapidshare.com/files/128669515/Self_Titled_remastered_by_disclaimer_07.zip) to download the whole thing.

It louder thats for sure. But Jennifer Lost The War was probably my best quality S/T track anyways. Do the rest of the album though please :D Especially Blackball cos that sounds terrible on mine. I'll be able to tell if you remaster that one.

I'm afraid I can't improve the quality of Ixnay that much, however, you may want to give it a listen:

You did it good, but I wouldn't be supprised if they still have tracks from recording sessions from 89' and 91. If they do, they can ofcourse remaster selected instruments and make even better mix.

Why didn't they do it with Ignition and Smash then?

Because Epitaph was the driving force behind those, not Nitro.

But are you sure how Ignition and Smash were recorded? Maybe Epitaph couldn't do any better.

Wow! That's amazing... I said in a different thread that if only if only, I wanted to hear a remastered self-titled because I actually never liked Ignition or Smash UNTIL they were remastered, and now I like the self-titled for the first time as well. I've always known it was good music, but frankly I didn't feel the quality was worth my time :(

Thanks again!

Like it!! Sounds more clean, definitely.

Anyway, i like the "noisy" sound old cds have, they sound less produced, and more "pure", similar to the analog sound vinyls had. :cool:

It's just a matter of taste. I like both kind of sounds.

Great job, but I don't really care about remastered albums.
The music is basically the same, and that's what counts.
The old one is more authentic too.
Anyway, except if the original version was REALLY horrible quality,
I don't get much more enjoyment from a remastered edition.

Again... Good work!! :cool:

ANDiTKO
08-06-2008, 03:15 AM
Dude, to remaster a song you need to have each channel separately.
ex.
1)Drums
2)Bass
3)Guitar L
4)Guitar R
5)Backup Guitar
6)Vocal
7)Back vocals
8)And maybe a special effect track.

Where did you got those channels???
Or you just start passing filters and effects on each song?

Of course I didn't have separate channels... But look at the remastered versions of Ignition and Smash, they didn't do that either. They also just edited the tracks as a "whole".

Well, at least they didn't touch the vocals. Dexter's voice in Forever And A Day is still barely audible.

Okay, so I've come to the conclusion that my previous remastering sucks balls. Well, not really, but here's another attempt:

Jennifer Lost The War (http://rapidshare.com/files/195532216/JenniferLostTheWar__2nd_remastering_.mp3)

Probably it's a bit too loud, but oh well, just messing around.

D, where have you been?? Haven't seen you on the BBS for ages!

And trying to keep on topic, erm, yeah, I believe that a lot of the remastered stuff people put out now is just tweaked as a whole track, not as individual channels. Rip off merchants. I think you did a good job with the remastering though, D. :)
