So this week there's a gigantic free festival all over the city's center. Based all around a 4-day march (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Four_Days_Marches_Nijmegen), largest walking even in the world I think. Awesome, over a million people visit the city. Of course the police wants to know they're there, to make you feel safe.

So as I walked to the center tonight, I noticed most cars have a note on them, saying the police checked the vehicle to find out how 'robbery-safe' it was. The note had one of the following boxes checked:

- Good! Your car is not tempting for criminals.
- Wrong! Your car has valuable items in sight!
- Wrong! Your car isn't locked properly!

If a car isn't locked properly, DO NOT PUT A FUCKING NOTE ON IT SAYING IT ISN'T LOCKED PROPERLY!

Other than that, this week's awesome. Good night.

Thats pretty retarded. By puting a note on your car saying "Not locked properly" is supposed to make it safer?

That's awesome. If they did that in America, so many people would take advantage.

I would hope that they also follow up by locking the car.

Well you can't lock all cars. For some cars you really need a key or card.

In reality they aren't making the car any more at risk by putting the little paper on it. If you were a car thief you'd be getting that close anyways.

Once you read one of the notes you could just quick-check every note on the car to see if it's locked or not. This makes it a lot easier since you don't have to walk around the car, check the doors and look into it.

Yeah if I was drunk and saw a sticker like that I'd probably have no problem with opening the car, taking a cigarette out of the box on the dash.. so I guess it is a public service.

Card!?

But that "not locked" thing is flat-out stupid! I, too, "lol'd."

Card!?Some cars require a card instead of a key, like the one my dad has.

And maybe some cars just can't be locked because the lock is broken, but you can't see it from the outside. My sister's car had that for a long time.
