Fuck and yes.

Look up the Wizards & Warriors theme song (http://youtube.com/watch?v=BzRTkWhtDYs) (the first one in that compilation). Cover it. Make me happy.

Warning: I am going to abuse the fuck out of you, so feel free to decline my requests at any time.

Alright, so in light of the announcement of Chrono Trigger DS, I decided that I was going to do some Chrono Trigger covers. And to start it all off, I've got a cover of Battle With Magus.

Chrono Trigger - Battle With Magus (http://www.savefile.com/files/1665580)

A couple of things about this cover.

I used the original SNES version throughout the whole song for two reasons: I didn't have a bass with me, and I couldn't figure out that whistle melody in the background. It also sounds more complete.
If you think you've heard everything in the song, listen even more closely. I recorded a ton of tracks for it.

Up next: Chrono Trigger - Robo's Theme

EDIT:

Warning: I am going to abuse the fuck out of you, so feel free to decline my requests at any time.

Holy shit, that was quick. But yeah, I do plan on turning down people, but not completely. I may just put a certain song, that doesn't appeal to me, off for a while.

By the way, great job on your magus cover!! It's superb.

Alright, so, I might as well post my existing covers.

Let's see what we have here...

Chrono Trigger - Battle Theme (http://www.savefile.com/files/1320799)
Chrono Trigger - Frog's Theme (http://www.savefile.com/files/1320803)
FFIX - You're Not Alone (http://www.savefile.com/files/1591172)

The Chrono Trigger covers are what started this whole obsession of mine. I think they're shit, personally, since they're my first ones, but most people like 'em.

A couple of things about You're Not Alone.

I used a different drum machine that the Chrono Trigger ones, and it's what I will be using from now on.
This cover was made when I was getting the hang of things, and I like it a lot as a result.
I accidentally left out a couple of things here and there because this was originally just a concept, but I liked it enough to actually show people.

Up next: Chrono Trigger - Robo's Theme and/or FFVI - Battle Theme

I like this thread.

I've always been fond of the Storm Eagle music in Mega Man X. It's nothing spectacular, but it brings out good memories.
http://www.mmhp.net/Sounds/MIDIs/MMX1/BX-MMX1StormEagle.mid
There's another Mega Man X song that I absolutely adored and wanted to originally post that's between x1-x4, but I can't for the love of god remember the specific level.

Two things: 1. I can't cover that since I don't own a synthesizer. 2. If I did cover it, I'd just be covering a song by Alcorus.

Only original songs from video games!

What an interesting coincidence!

I don't have a request, but I, too, enjoy covering video game songs. I currently have a cover of the Star Ocean 2 theme song on my band's Myspace (it's all on a clean electric guitar, with just a dab of chorus). That is quite possibly my favorite video game song of all time. I'm also working on a full-band reimagining of it, something in the vein of Bad Religion's "Sinister Rouge" or The Offspring's "The Kids Aren't Alright."

(That would make more sense if you could hear how it's progressing.)

I visited your myspace and I'll be honest with you, the drums really suck on the songs I've heard. Perhaps you should consider getting a new drummer. Anyway, good luck, apart from that it's not bad.

Homer

Alright, so I need to explain something: I won't be doing any covers for about the next 10 days or so. My band's playing a show next week and we haven't practiced for about 4 months. So, I left all of my equipment at our 'jam area'.

I am, however, trying to learn a bunch of the requested songs on my acoustic, which means as soon as I get my equipment back, I'll be recording.

I can guarantee you that FFVI Battle Theme will be next, as I'm about 95% done that song.

P.S.
I don't think I'll be able to do the Wizards & Warriors Theme after looking at the tab and other people playing it. It's too hard! Sorry, Rick!

Uh, it's actually a drum machine. Way to read!

P.S.
Keep discussions of other bands out of this thread, and revive their thread!

Haha -_-
Doh?

Yeah, the drum machine's been drinking a lot lately. I've been stuck doing acoustic demos while the bastard's out partying and getting laid....I swear, sometimes it seems like I'm the only one doing anything here. I haven't met our bassist, our singer is out watching The Dark Knight for the 150th time (although I don't blame him for that; if I had the money laying around, I'd go see it again, too), and the guy I wanted to be our second guitarist ends up thinking we're not his style (he's a mexican/spanish type instrument guy). Dammit....

*goes to get weed*

Alright, so I've put this off for a while now. I was originally just going to quickly finish up FF6 Battle Theme when I realized that I don't have a bass, and I really want bass in the song. So, I'll have to go out and buy one.

Knowing I couldn't finish that, I just said 'fuck it' and put doing anything off for a while. But then I felt bad and decided to come back to it. I looked at the next song on the list, and it was Robo's Theme from Chrono Trigger. I recorded this ALL tonight, so... I don't know actually. I think I may have to put too much in it, or I just mixed it all wrong. But I always nitpick my own stuff.

Chrono Trigger - Robo's Theme (http://www.savefile.com/files/1708766)

A couple of things about this cover...

I took out the 'bell melody' (as I like to call it) simply because I had a mental breakdown trying to figure out the notes of it.
I'm not sure if I mixed it correctly, so if you have a complaint about volume levels or panning just let me know!

As for the requests, it looks like I'll be doing Sonic 2 - Chemical Plant next. But that's only according to the requests. The next song you will hear will probably be FF6 Battle Theme.

Alright, so as about 2 of you might know, I've downloaded Mega Man 9 from the PSN and I love it. So, I decided to record a song from Mega Man. Enjoy.

Mega Man II - Dr. Wily Stage 2 (http://www.savefile.com/files/1811810)

A couple of things about this cover...

This was so fucking hard to record, as the program I usually use to record these is fucked. So, I had to record each track in one take.
This is the first song that has a bass guitar in it.
I actually already knew how to play most of this song for about a year and a half, as my band has played it live a year ago.

As for the requests: fuck the requests. I'll get them done when I feel like it.

I really like the Mega Man one. You're good at this. Also better at guitar than I am, I think - I can never keep that galloping mute up for long at higher speeds.

I've neglected this thread for far too long. So, here's a song that I've got laying around.

Final Action Music (http://www.savefile.com/files/1830915) from the internet show The Arcade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LMNHGz0Sbw).

Geoff Mendicino (owner of Freezecracker.com (http://www.freezecracker.com)) began an internet game show and bestowed me with the privilege of recording the music for it. If you watch the entire 22 minutes of the video, you'll hear this song at the end.

A couple of things about this song...

I had a song already lined up to record for the show, but ended up coming up with this last minute.
I kept the song nice and simple. If I wanted to, I could make an 8-bit version of it.
I am very proud of this song.

So, yeah, hopefully I'll get back into full swing with this.

This reminds me - I've got a request or two.

I love love love the Mystic Cave Theme from Sonic 2, so if you could do a cover of that it'd be awesome.

Also, I've always wanted to cover The Decisive Battle from FFVI, but I can't play part of it properly, and I'm just too lazy to ever REALLY get around to it, so I think you should do it.

Homer

Alright, children. I've got another one for you, and this time it's a request! Yay!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Chemical Plant Zone (www.savefile.com/files/1891353)

A couple of things about this song...

I had originally planned to record this a very long time ago (before my Dr. Wily cover), but didn't due to changing computers.
I regret saying that Mega Man 2 - Dr. Wily Stage 1/2 was the hardest to play, because THIS ONE WAS. DAMNIT.
I almost gave up due to the difficulty of some parts, and you could probably point them out in the song.
The mixing is a lot quieter in this one, because there is so much going on. Just like the Battle With Magus cover.

I have no idea what I'll work on next. Probably Cosmo Canyon.

Mystic Cave Theme from Sonic 2

The Decisive Battle from FFVI

Alright, well, I was going to wait until Geoff from Freezecracker.com (http://www.freezecracker.com) posted the video for the song, but I could wait no longer!

Yet another request!

Final Fantasy VII - Cosmo Canyon (http://www.savefile.com/files/1907145)

A couple of things about this song...

This one was one of the easier ones. In fact, the most trouble I had was getting the drums to sound good.
I had originally planned to use my school's upright bass, but couldn't due to some technical difficulties... sorry, everybody!
I used a different effect for the lead guitar than what I normally use. Interesting, I know.

As for my next cover... well, it'll be a surprise? Probably not.

HOLY SHIT, IT'S FINALLY DONE!

Final Fantasy VI - Battle Theme (http://www.savefile.com/files/1917302)

A couple of things about this song...

I have been putting this song off for about 4 months.
The only thing I actually recorded this week was the bass, and the "background melody". Everything else was just sitting there, untouched for 4 months.

As for my next cover... well, I'm not sure if I'll do one for next week. I'm pretty drained from the shitty gig I had on Saturday.

HOLY SHIT I'M BACK.

Mega Man IX - Tornado Man (http://www.savefile.com/files/1941256)

A couple of things about this song...

I tried fixing the 'too much treble' issues by pumping up the bass and mid on the lead guitars.
The bass has new strings, therefore sounds better.
I apparently reached over 70 takes for one of the tracks. Can you figure out which one?

As for my next cover... well, it'll be a Christmas/HANNAHCJUU present.

A couple of things about this song...

Damn this song. It was very hard to figure out the notes for this one.
I almost gave up on this song one evening, but realized that I had recorded too much to quit.
This was supposed to be released on Christmas, but I couldn't finish it by then.
One of the tracks took me over 140 takes. GUESS WHICH ONE.

I have literally no idea of what I'll record next.

P.S.
The extra little "solo" I put in is totally what makes the song.

Sent my friend the Cosmo Canyon track, she replied "this Cosmo Canyon song is pretty brilliant!". She was also into the "You're Not Alone" track.

Awesome. I'm actually thinking about redoing all of my 'old' covers, though, which includes You're Not Alone. So, if she likes the current one, then she'll love a remake.

A couple of things about this song...

It took me awhile to figure out the trumpets, and they're probably all wrong.
I basically started from scratch with my effects and drums, as all of my drum files were deleted, and I tried my best to make the guitars sound fuller.
I compressed the shit out of it, so if you don't like that, then oh well.

IT'S IN DROP D, OH NO!
This was probably one of the few songs where I had more trouble with the rhythm and the bass.
The only name I've found for this song was 'Missile Mayhem' but I only found one place that had that, therefore I just called it Level 5.
Battletoads is awesome.

Oh damn! Carson has finally returned with another one of his patented video game music covers! This time it's one from Street Fighter!!!

Street Fighter II - Cammy's Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEx1iWN-2x4)

A couple of things about this cover.

I made this song a couple of months ago, but never bothered to make a video.
Apparently Caitlin Glass (voice actor for Cammy in IV) heard this cover, and was pleased.
Yes, there's piano in this song.
This song was one of the easier ones.
