Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Dexter Holland as a lyricist and songwriter as a whole, and he's definitely been a strong influence upon my own penned work at times. I know it's hard to rhyme all the time, but regardless there are still a few Offspring lyrics I just can't get past.

"A rose that won't bloom, winters kept you."
"Crave the sun, but I can't get out of bed."
The whole "mission, admission, asperation, desperation etc" part of Never Gonna Find Me.

What're yours?

"And I don't want to say I told you so, but I told you so, now you lost control."

"I won't park next to Da Hui, because I don't really feel comfortable."

I actually found the "Crave the sun, but I cant get out of bed" to be one of the best lines of the album.

I hate hate hate HATE the lyrics to Want You Bad, though.

Alone, that line is kinda lame, but after seeing that part of the video, it's SOOO awesome, IMO.

Dexter is probably my favourite lyricist (along with Tom Gabel), however there are about three single lines from songs that irritate the hell out of me.

The use of doggy-doo and makin' bacon from Don't Pick It Up, but i still really like the song.

From Orignal Prankster the lines

Tries, tries, bangin' little hoochy mammas

and

You know it smells like shit, goddamn

make me cringe.

Oh, I love that. xD
I like that song, it's like...not Offspring.

You know it smells like shit, goddamn tag team the double-header is probably my favourite part of Prankster.

Also, I think the Da Hui extract was a joke, Da Hui strikes me as a Half-Jokeism.

I'm not going to get too involved in this thread; I heard a brother say that he was "fresh outta the frying pan" the other day. My respect for Dexter's song writing is infinite.

Well our souls are all mistaken in the same misguided way
We all end up forsaken, we‘re just choosing our own way
Only because the word "way" is rhymed to itself.

And Walla Walla has great simple lyrics imo.

I guess the lyrics of Da Hui are not all that great. Oh, and I don't like "bang, bang, it hammers in my head" from Hammerhead.

I'd bet that many people here love it, but I just didn't like it immediately after I heard Hammerhead for the first time (which is a great song, BTW). So, most likely it's just me ;O

And I don’t wanna say I told you so
But I told you so
Now you’ve lost control

Now I don't need to hear about the sounds they were making
And I don't need to hear about how long it was taking
Or how the walls, they were shaking

Won't someone just kill me
Put me out of my misery!
I'm makin' deals with God
I'll do anything!

make it stop please
make it stop please!
make it stop please
make it stop please!

I find the lyrics in Rise And Fall a little I don't know.. "cheesy" perhaps..but i really like the song..

And I agree with those who said that they hate the lyrics in Want You Bad

Other than that I just love all offspring songs...

Ok, I am getting involved.

I like it too, alot, only that is still the best part of it.

I can see where you're coming from with Walla Walla but I like them a lot. It's lyrics make it funny and tell a story, which is often more difficult to do when adhering to a rhyme scheme that simply describing; there is an abundance of adjectives presently.

My girlfriend, my dumb donut

I think I win.
A long time ago I would listen to the song just so I could hear this line, often I would play it two or three times before listening to the remainder. Seriously. No really.

Well our souls are all mistaken in the same misguided way
We all end up forsaken, we‘re just choosing our own way
Only because the word "way" is rhymed to itself.
This might be pertaining to the "spiral" Dexter speaks of in the next verse.

And I agree with those who said that they hate the lyrics in Want You Bad

Want You Bad has some of the best lyrics that put forward a point that is not too serious or clichéd. So I challenge you also worthy adversary.

Okay, I accept your opinion.
At first I loved this song...I just couldn't stop listening to it. Now everytime I hear Conspiracy of One I skip it.
Maybe the way it sounds tricked me into not liking it and I know we're talking about the lyrics but that's the way I feel about the song. But it's still better than the crap kids hear this days:D(at least here in Portugal it is all about these pop bands started by lousy actors of daily soap operas).

Lyrics and the way it sounds just don't make it for me, sorry.:p

"make it stop please
make it stop please!
make it stop please
make it stop please!"

From Worst Hangover Ever, reminds me of the stuff I used to write when I was 13 years old.

"Got his own song and it goes like this..." from Living in Chaos, sounds like Dexter is trying to rap and failing, but I love the rest of the song.

The whole lyrics to Da Hui are really cheesy. The music is awesome, but the lyrics just suck, especially if you aren't from Hawaii, you have no idea who the hell Da Hui is.

"Give it to me baby! AhHa AhHa!" is annoying, but it did get them famous...

You know what, you've actually managed to change my mind about that line. I'm not a big fan of the song, but it has some great lyrics.
